Big Steal here for the Jets and if this happened in real life, Id do backflips. With the top OL prospects taken and Lynch too, the Jets will look to potentially replace Barrett and Poteat with arguably the most athletic CB in this draft, who can also be a KR/PR... The New York Jets select CB Darrelle Revis out of Pittsburgh.
Dawkins is just about done. That's what the Eagles do, they draft players 2 years before they need them and then they are ready to start. Think Lito Sheppard and Shelden Brown, etc.
The Bengals offense is 1 TE away from being almost complete and very dangerous. TE Zach Miller, Arizona State
This pick was very, very good value and with his talent our cornerback group is a force to be reckoned with. Dyson and Revis starting, Miller and D. Coleman in the next 2 spots - very good. Yea it's not our biggest need, but Revis should be a top 12-15 pick and to slide to us is a steal.
These things are no fun once we pass the Jets pick. Someone should start a new mock draft thread after Monday's games.
^--- Hater... Dallas Cowboys select: Amobi Okoye This cat is shooting up the draft charts and should be a great eventual replacement for everyone's favorite contract player, Jason Ferguson, at Nose Tackle.
Revis is a horrible pick. Not only is he overrated because of his quickness, but we just saw a dominating performance from Hank Poteat for christ sake. We don't need a corner, we have a system that needs roleplaying system corners. It's all about the safeties. Belichick's has had the most injury ravaged secondaries in recent memory and they could still stop the pass during their Superbowl runs, because of front seven pressure and the amount of ground their safeties covered. In an age where there are no more shutdown corners, it makes no more sense to take them in the first round. It's all about scheming at corner, and all you need is a corner who fits your teams strengths.
Not only did you question my pick right away after I made it but now you question on how much I know the draft? Are you kidding me? Heres why Revis is a Jet(Even though theres no way in hell he falls into our laps unless we somehow drop our final two games and Revis has a decent combine) 1. You really think this Jet franchise wants to ship in the big bucks on Asaunte Samuel and Nate Clemens? They will be awfully pricey and Tennebaum/Mangini will try to dodge paying these guys the money they will command in a CB hungry free agent market. 2. If Drew Coleman, Hank Poteat or David Barrett is our 2nd CB when we face against a tough schedule, we will get burned big time by the teams in the AFC North and NFC East. That simple. 3. I know you were probably thinking when I made this pick that ''Oh man this is just a Justin Miller clone, you know can return kicks but cant cover'', but the dude is not only athletic but has great cover skills. 2nd best in the draft behind Leon Hall. Him aside someone like Kerry Rhodes will help one another IMO. 4. The only real other choice whod help us around this area would be Lemarr Woodley, but theres a chance he can fall to our early 2nd round pick(Washington's) so I went with talent over need. Hope that helps.
You realize what Hank Poteat is right? Hes a JOURNEYMAN CB. Revis isnt overrated, he doesnt even get that much talk in this draft. Dunta Robinson, Pac Man Jones and DeAngelo Hall were picked in the 1st round and have been very good for their teams respectively. Trust me, the CB market for free agency will be intense with the likes of Clemens and Samuel leading the way. And we have faced a very light schedule this year, the only top QBs weve faced that pass alot are Peyton Manning and I guess Tom Brady. We get the likes of McNabb, Eli Manning(Inconsistent but a cannon for a arm), Romo who can launch some bombs, Tom Brady, possibility of Daunte Culpepper if he comes back, Jay Cutler/Trent Green and Carson Palmer next season. Poteat wont last, nor will any of our CBs outside of Dyson. My pick was FAR from a horrible pick.
