Interim coaches normally get fired at the end of the season. Not always but the expectation of an interim coach is that they are holding the seat for the next guy at the end of the year. For the most part interim coaches are appointed due to a health condition of the HC or the death of the HC or when a significant disagreement arises in the organization - generally with a HC on shaky ground who has been with the organization for several years. It is *not* normal in any way shape or form to fire a HC in the middle of his second season when the roster is performing as the talent dictates. If the Jets fire Adam Gase right now it will be an abnormal action and perceived as such outside the Jets organizational and fan bubbles.
But what if the coach has lost the locker room? Its not healthy for a team to go 3/4’s more of a losing season w a coach who is ether overly abrasive, discredited or simply apathetic; Esp w a young team thats trying to change a culture.
Why are we home field underdogs on Nat TV? Even Vegas doesn't expect the Jets to pull out a win here The first step in a positive direction is to fire Gase the nincompoop HC Like Kurt posted, in fairness to the players at least they are relieved of an undesirable boss Watch how all the injuries on this team are miraculously cured over the next 2 weeks post Gase This Season is toast, I leave it to our GM to figure out the Jets short and long term future
Who claims Gase has lost the locker room? I see players still trying hard on the field. They're just not good enough to play with good teams.
Oh? The team has shown zero fight through 3 games.Lackluster effort.Weve seen countless defensive players not only miss tackles but making business decisions & not be WILLING to tackle. Multiple players criticizing practice tempo(some the same culprits not willing to tackle above) & another team leader saying the team isnt playing “smart”.If that isnt a passive aggressive shot at the coach IDK what is. Lack of effort both in games & in practice & leaders coming out to say they arent playing smart? This all goes back to the HC & none of it should be downplayed. If you think the fire trail ends at the comments made to the media, well just look at the effort we’ve seen.Effort has nothing to do w talent or injuries
There's no precedent that says it'll affect the hiring process for us. The 49ers fired Singletary with a game left and landed Harbaugh. The Rams hired McVay after firing Fisher and losing all three games under Fassel. The Texans hired Bill O'Brien after firing Kubiak, the Bills got McDermott after firing Rex, the Jaguars stuck with Marrone after firing Bradley. Granted - most of these were end of the year firings. And not all work out (Freddie Kitchens period).
Exactly, he doesn't seem to have any interpersonal skills whatsoever — being a good strategist or a "brilliant offensive mind" is only one aspect of being a coach. The core component is people management and Gase comes off as having all the personality of rain man.
I get your points but.... Maybe but then again maybe not. I get it if you dont like the guy but name someone better, as highly thought of? The same could have been said about Rex or even most of the past coaches. Love or Hate Rex the last success we was when he was the coach. yes there will be a down turn with anyone we hire because when you dont have a great roster and that needs to be improved but this is also about culture and building. You want a college coach great it will be the same situation. You want a proven nfl coach great then the results will be same. But if the coach can get the team competitive, show younger players what it takes to play for 9 yrs in the league and what it takes to win that would be my starting points, for any hire. Name a few coaches you want and then weigh everything out and we can discuss this but to bash without having mentioned any other options is little narrow in scope. It is easy to bashed and everyone can be bashed. But until you name other coaches who might be available the conversation is really a mute point because you have not put forth any other names. Just in case you think he not thought of as a head coach CU reached out to him supposedly and there is a nice article. If we want a coach to build with he has most of the items checked off show me someone better and I will agree. I never wanted Gase and with the options I wanted a college coach or McCarthy anyone but Gase. here we have the option of getting the right guy for the job which we should not rush into anything and get the right person this time https://sports.yahoo.com/why-is-eri...t-of-chiefs-head-coach-factory-184604861.html
Jests are so predicable, CJ and jets refuting the story... so it must be true. Just like the story on Adams, they decided if they get the haul they wanted they would move on. But told media jet for life. Then when he talked bad about gase and CJ. I knew he was goner! Adams planned it, he knew the dysfunctional culture. Now they have decided gase is goner, just pretending the Denver game is decision point. Just matter of when. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
