He has to be super uncomfortable on the left side because his stance is TERRIBLE on the left side. He looks like he's constipated and his kick leg is not back nearly far enough. He looked world's different on the left side than he did on the right. But of course we're going to keep trotting him out there at his worst position. Because why would we put players in a position to succeed? On another note as well we do things that simply make no sense to anyone who has ever watched football. We put the tightend to his side after he's badly getting abused. Which widens the defensive end out. If you chip with the tightend it makes sense. But we don't. We sure don't. We run the tightend right by him and the end runs right by Chuma. He had no shot on that one.
I'm not a scout but when they drafted Chuma, I thought of all the 2019 draft picks he was most likely to fail because he is too top heavy with skinny legs. Early on, he looked alright, maybe I was wrong... but yesterday, pure shit either way, sure wish they hung onto Teddy Bridgewater instead. I have a hard time believing the coaching staff was bringing the TEs in but telling them NOT to chip. I could be wrong as hell, but I truly believe that was a business decision by the player and not what was coached
I don't disagree. I don't know whose decision it was but it blew my mind to watch Griffin run right by him. Chuma looks like he could be a decent guard in this league. We'll never know though because we don't develop offensive lineman whatsoever. Who knows if they've ever been any good but both Dakota Dozier and Vlad Ducasse went on to start in this league. Ducasse started 40 games in 4 years when he left here. Dozier has started three games this season.
I still like him at right tackle. He’s still young and was a 3rd pick for a reason. Hopefully beachum is back soon and they can put him back where he is more comfortable. Not giving up on a rookie after 3 starts.
Agreed. I think he can be a right tackle or even a quality guard. Just like the players I mentioned. Hopefully we don't give up on them right away like we always do with offensive lineman. Oday Aboushi is another one who has started games for other NFL franchises. Again, likely not world beaters but it'd be nice if we retained the depth of players we draft
the problem with Chuma at right tackle is that he's a finesse tackle. right tackle is a position for a roadgrading run blocker. I don't believe there will be a spot for a guy like him in the NFL, ie. a 'finesse' tackle that is not quick enough to play LT but not strong/stout enough to play RT. I think Chuma's future is as a career backup (if he's lucky -its entirely possible he will not make it at all)
Edoga graded out as the 3rd worst RT in run blocking/win rate on Sunday. I didn’t think it would be that bad of a drop off when Fant went down but good grief.
He's looked awful in every game he's played. He did look better in pass protection this year than he did when the Jaguars ran a track meet around him for four quarters though. Not that it would've helped but I'm also not sure why Douglas, Gase or whoever made the decision, felt as though this line was good enough to let Brian Winters walk. He would've been nice to have next to Fant. We backed ourselves into a corner with Edoga anyway though as he's the only other active tackle (why are we only keeping EIGHT offensive lineman and 4,000 defensive tackles?). Edoga's best chance in this league is as a guard.
He was fucking awful. Noticeable drop off from Fant which is a bad sign because Fant has been very average through two weeks.
I think Maccagnan asked Sam if he's good and Sam said yeah probably I played with him for a year - he's a nice guy, and Maccagnan was sold.
THIS IS WHY WE SUCK 3rd round picks already busts like Nathan Shepherd, who is almost 30 now, Polite and Edoga. For what it's worth, Zuniga and Davis already seem to be useless. You need to draft players who contribute.
Osemele was impressive yesterday vs the Ravens. Maybe our OL wasn’t too bad to begin with, just shitty coaching and not knowing the proper plays for set up with the OL.
I’d feel better about Osemele and Winters than Van Roten and Lewis. Winters was best run blocking G we had, I don’t see how they thought prudent to let him go. Interior of line has looked soft. As far as Edoga, he can’t run block. I don’t think he’s long for this team.
Revisionist history. Fans here literally couldnt wait to get rid of Winters. Osemele was awful before he got hurt here.
