Hate to say it, and I know it’s probably not exactly like it. BUT! How is this any different than what Idzik did to Rex in his last year? Didn’t spend $, and, like his boy Idzik, missed on every pick he had save 1
Only the Jets could have a HC who they just hired, turn right around and oust the gm who hired him. And then, have the gm who the HC hires, set him up to fail in his first full year
Sure, it could happen, but after just one draft with Douglas I feel better about his drafting chops than Idzik. Becton is a cornerstone piece. I can't wait to see Mims, I think he'll be a nice piece. This team can look wildly different in just one year. - New coach - Trevor Lawrence - Top WR with SEA's pick (Seth Williams, etc.) paired with Mims and maybe a good FA like JuJu. - Spend big on the right FAs, continue to bolster the OL and DL. It can be Idzik Redux, it can't be a home run and we'll be fighting for a playoff spot next year, or it (most likely) will be somewhere in the middle.
The numbers would not look good but we would be a better team. I said before the draft he’d be a guy that can grind out ugly wins on a talent deprived team like a young Cam. It’s what he did at Wyoming.
If the morning reports are true, what does Jets ownership think now after a 29 point loss? I have supported Gase more than most, but he has to go. The negativity is just too much now. This season is ruined though, so there is no need to rush. The franchise will start over AGAIN in 2021 and honestly: It's embarrassing. I worry I may never be the fan I used to be, because I just can't anymore. Shame.
I get it but he comes from a winning program has worked his way up thru the ranks as an assistant coach and has a sound work ethic and offensive mind and body of work from a player on up. This is someone who put in the work as a player and a coach that will get the respect of the players
he is the one thread in Miami they said injuries but it is gase we are starting to hear about how soft the practices are and that could be leading to a higher then normal injury count as an example. If guys do not practice hard then in a game when they are going full spread for the first time..... Also hearing about his coaches are running the practices and he is not around as well. To be fair the last I heard on that was in Miami
I said this earlier thank you, it does not take a genius to save money but field a team that is not even competitive is exactly like that. There were moves he could have made and did not and this is what we are seeing. He could have signed receivers or waiver pick ups not saying sign them all but one player would have ben nice like Sanu Antonio Brown, Dez Bryant, Mohamed Sanu, Hakeem Butler, Quincy Enunwa, Chester Rogers, Demaryius Thomas, Jermaine Kearse, Ryan Grant, Jordan Matthews, Laquon Treadwell. TIGHT ENDS Delanie Walker, Jeff Heuerman, Ed Dickson, Charles Clay, Richard Rodgers. DEFENSIVE LINEMEN Marcell Dareus, Damon Harrison, Ezekiel Ansah, Jabal Sheard, Cameron Wake, Brandon Mebane, Kerry Wynn, Kyle Love, Domata Peko
I say we just go down in flames with Gase this year. Say what you will about Jets history which we all know is not good but there has only been one all time bad stretch which was obviously the Kotite era. We had a chance to draft an all time QB prospect after the Kotite disaster which we all know Parcells fucked up and sent back to school. This season could be redemption. There is another generational QB prospect waiting at the end of this long dreadful road. All we gotta do is endure it and finish this putrid season. It would be so same old Jets to fire Gase, win 3 meaningless games and sit at 3 in the draft and watch Lawrence lead his team to multiple SBs.
Sorry Jil no such thing as the "dark side" there are a few of us who live in the real NYJ world & all others that live in NYJ dreamland IMO
