Yup. If he hasn’t started looking for real estate agents yet, he’d better put the next five days to good use.
The only real value is to evaluate Williams. Even if they lose there could be a markable improvement. He had a strong finish in Cleveland, I’d like to see how the team plays under him.
Completely agree with this. He was winning games for the briwns when they fired him i was flabbergasted
The 4th year would make all of that clear. However the way the 5th year option works has changed. The option becomes fully guaranteed at the time the team chooses to exercise it. This means that Darnold's 2021 and 2022 salaries would be guaranteed when the Jets choose to exercise the option. Assuming the Jets draft a 1st round QB next year it is very possible that their best course of action next year is to let Darnold play out the 4th season without exercising the 5th year option. If he plays very well then the Jets have the possibility of re-signing him for 2022 and beyond. In this situation they probably trade the guy they took in 2021 because there isn't enough talent on the roster to justify keeping both. If Darnold does not take a big step up in 2021 then the Jets let him go and bring their 2nd year draftee forward to take the reins.
Agree with this. On top of that, it actually behooves us to do as poorly as possible this season. This team has A LOT of holes on the roster and will need all the draft capital it can get.
The NFL knows Gregg Williams. He's been around for a long time. There's nothing to evaluate and there are no hidden facets to discover. He's 62 years old and working on his 9th NFL team.
Toon and Walker were marginal Hall of Famers that missed due to injuries and inconsistent QB play. Shuler was an outstanding possession receiver. You give Sam Darnold that trio right now and he's going to be looking at least as good as Ken O'Brien and miles ahead of the other guys who played QB for the Jets after Joe Namath and before Boomer.
Ultimately, Gase is not likely going to make it through the season and Williams is the most likely candidate to take over for the season, so we shall see.
I hope the Johnson Bros have seen the light There the decision makers (Gasp) McCarthy has Cowboys competitive every week but we ended up with Gase ..Thanks CJ ..ya dope!
Tannehill was much better than any of the guys Iisted. He actually played quite well for Gase when he was on the field. However he was injured for exactly half the number of games that Gase coached him - which is par for the course with Gase and injury luck.
Actually when there is a consistent pattern it's called Good Luck or Bad Luck. Gase has the latter at this point.
IU disagree it is not the loosing or the roster this team looks unprepared and out of sync that is coaching period. there are 32 head coaching jobs in the nfl you get teh right guy I prefer the Chief OC for example Eric Bienemy he deserves a chance and he knows what to want from an offense and how to make the right calls and prepare the team
Next week is huge for the Jets and Broncos-- The loser will see changes sooner rather than later. Common denominator is both owners are reactive and not proactive, they have these arbitrary markers of failure or success they need to see before making moves.
Luck means random events occurring to Gase that are out of his control. I'm saying it's not random, there is something going on that is attributable to him. I don't know what it is, maybe something about his practices, his training staff.... something.
The Chief's OC is playing with one of the great offensive minds of all time as his HC in Andy Reid. Reid is not only one of the greats all-time he is one of the great QB whisperers of all time. Bienemy may be good or he may not be good but he certainly can't bring either Andy Reid nor Patrick Mahomes to the Jets and without them he's just another guy with a good rep and a ton of talent around him. Good rep, surrounded by talent, those two things go hand-in-hand.
