Both would be perfect....edge pressure AND up the gut pressure that prevents the QB from stepping up to avoid the edge pressure.

Are you taking into account that Allen is playing through a Calf injury?

I "like" Quinnen Williams but hate him as a #3 overall pick. If that makes any sense.

In my opinion the drop off from Bosa to Q is catastrophic so that was tough to take in that draft. Then on top of that our team desperately was in need of offensive help for Darnold and there just wasn't anything to take with the #3 pick and nobody wanted to trade for it so the Jets kind of ended up in no man's land which was also tough to take. I kind of hate the 2019 draft. The guy I wanted was Jonah Williams and to be honest I think that still might have been a better pick than Q. Presumably he wouldn't have been injured the same way last year and in theory at least he could be anchoring the RT position for years to come.

Hopefully Q keeps improving and eventually wins me over.

It's a very good post....Allen has NO tackes this year ? Wow....

Please revisit this thread and update the relevant stats. I'd also like to see what the professional subscription services say about ranking both guys. These services look not only at the stats but the individual play and then rank all the players based on what they did and what was POSSIBLE on each play.

    Great post, again !

Isn't Queenan looking at a 4-game suspension for that stupid gun trick ?

Don't really care. Would still want Allen in a Greg Williams defense. No DT will ever impress me unless he's named Klecko.

Sure, I would take a DOMINNANT edge rusher like Gastineau or LT or Nick Bosa over Quinnen. But there hasn't been a G or LT or NB within reach in 25 years.

But I would take Quinnin or Arron Donald providing up the middle pressure over Josh Allen or a host of other B+/A- edge rushers any day. NOTHING is more disruptive to an offense/QB than pressure right in his face. The only question is will Q develop into another Arron Donald or top out at Mohmad Wilkerson.

If Q develops (and he seems to be on his way) then adding a good edge rusher (B+/A-) would make our front 4 very dominant. I think that's what MM hoped for with that Polite LBer who had the talent, bur was too messed up in the head.

I'm happy Q is coming along and starting to look like a dominent D-lineman. we can get an edge rusher another year.

comparison to Allen doesnt matter at this point. It does look like Q is a lot better this year than last. I hope it continues

Josh Allen with another dominant half of tackle-less football against two rookie tackles.

Any one watching Josh Allen against Miami? Is this question even valid anymore? Our guy is hands down a superior pick. Not even close. Allen can be had for a 5th rounder next year lol

Did we extend the same courtesy to Q last year. Hardly.

I agree but don’t you think the Jets took that a little too far in the past decade? Fortunately Quinnen doesn’t seem like a jerk that will cry his way off the team or stop playing hard after a new contract

No, it will get pled down, he'll get a fine on the charges, no suspension based upon NFL precedent.

I remember Kris Jenkins just plowing through centers back in the day. That poor bastard that he just clubbed out of the way...that was impressive.

Maybe I remember him as better than he actually was, but from what I can recall, he sometimes just blew up plays before they started.

One thing that’s probably worth considering is the increased chance of forcing a turnover from a blind side hit. You can clearly see a guy coming right down the middle. Protect the ball and take the sack.

Not sure what the statistics look like when comparing the 2 types of hits, though.
