They haven't been cheap about spending money on players or for their fancy new digs. They better think about the losses of fans. That will cost them more in the long run than continuing to pay Gase.
That could well be, but the money they have tied up in HCing contracts doesn't even amount to the interest they earn off their investments in a week probably. They'd better think long and hard about the true cost of choosing to save a few bucks over the money they'll lose as fans drift away. The saying "Penny-wise; pound-foolish" comes to mind. But I suppose the "silver lining" for me is they're going to make it easy for me to walk away after almost 6 decades.
Theyve never been quick to fire anyone even when warrnted except for Mangini. I think its a combination of them not wanting to make another hire bc they KNOW deep down they are clueless & also afraid theyll give coaches yet another reason to not come here if the perception is they fire a coach too soon when the roster is garbage
It's never too soon to fire a HC if he shows that he's not the answer. Kyle Shanahan was the 49ers 4th HC in 4 years in 2017.
Exactly! They’re diverting the root cause analysis at all costs by portraying themselves as patient reasonable owners that support their HC till the bitter end.
The rule for QBs - which is the most important player on the team - is the same for HCs: keep signing them until you find a good one. A team can't become a winner with a poor to mediocre QB, or a poor to mediocre HC. The Johnsons have held onto to bad HCs consistently too long. While they supposedly worry that coaching candidates might think firing bad HCs sends a signal that the Jets are a losing organization, by holding onto losers too long they're actually proving it.
For a competent FO capable of identifying quality personnel both w Players & coaches this is absolutely true. The problem w the Jets is they cant identify good personnel to the point where their FO is completely at the mercy of their HC.This results in a constant rebuild & no identity,as the team is always changing things to fit a different coach. If the steelers fired Tomlin tomorrow & the draft was Friday they know exactly what a steeler looks like, and their approach woul be flawless. Put the Jets in the same scenaro up till this point & the FO couldnt identify what a New York Jet was w.o a coach telling them to save their life
80s team incl under Walton had a great identity, actually pretty similar to the Ewbank Jets but slightly more about speed w long/lean athletes
I have come to believe that when Gase finally departs he will have fired himself. Ownership does not seem to be sufficiently motivated to do anything to to alter the complacency they've repeatedly demonstrated but we may be able to rely on Gase to repeat his attitude or actions in Miami that finally got him run out - namely telling the owner that he wasn't going to answer to him. That means he needs to publicly be seen going off on the owners or on some other party who dares question his "genius." Here is where the stalwart New York press corps can be put to use. I know this will stick in the craw of all those here who have consistently defended anyone connected with the team from the ravishes of those within the fourth estate and maybe the fifth who dare to be realistic and "tell it like it is" or ask the tough questions but now the time has come. I believe that as the next few weeks go by questions about fourth quarter punts, lazy weekly workouts, delay of game fouls after timeouts and all the other absurdities that are a Gase run team will proliferate and chafe the ever so thin skin of the coach to the point where he will lose control of his mouth as well as his eyes. He simply does not have the emotional makeup to take the heat and his refusal to take any blame will only accelerate the onslaught. It's only a matter of time. He may run and hide once or twice under the fusillade of questions for which he has no answers but sooner or later he will revert to form and blow up spectacularly to the extent that if the Jets don't act the league will. And he can take his monkey with him.
Must be a bunch of jobless losers going to this rally. What type of people can miss work on a Thursday @ 1:00 for a rally? lol. I hope Gase gets fired too but this is funny to me.
Maybe it's their lunch hour and they are bored since everything is locked down lol. Possibly some of those people are jobless because they were laid off as well.
I wanted Adam Gase fired before he even got here. Still, it's 2020, and the Jets status the worst team in the league with no hope for improvement is really quite low on the list of things I'd protest or fight about at this moment. Really quite low.
