I have drafted - an I can not believe I wrote this much - 5 pages and preparing to send it to CJ and JD under Personal and Confidential - some info I added today based on some comments form all of you (hope you do not mind) highlights: · Since Gase took over for the Jets in 2019, his team leads the NFL in games with under 300 yards (12) and is tied with Cincinnati and Washington for the most games with under 20 points (12). · Since 2019, the Jets have lost nine games by at least nine points, third-most behind only Miami (10) and Washington (11). · Since 2019, the 7-11 Jets are one of 10 teams that have a win total in the 6-to-8 range, and the Jets have the worst point differential among them. Their actual win percentage under Gase is .389, but their expected win percentage is .323 (5.8-12.2). · "I'm going to keep it blunt: Honestly, we haven't shown progress," linebacker Jordan Jenkins said after the Jets dropped to an ugly 0-2. This is a player. · Jets been outscored by a combined 42-6 in the first half. Translation: They've been noncompetitive. · reddit - 10 throws behind the line. 0 throws past 20 yards “brilliant” offensive game plan! · Football perspective (Twitter): Adam Gase's career record is now 30-29-8. That's 30 wins, 29 double-digit losses, and 8 single-digit losses. I don't expect much in a reply but need to do this for my sanity. I may even send it to guys at the NY post.
That's unreal. Also unacceptable. He knows Sam is athletic, right? Gase doesn't trust his athletic, third-year quarterback to know when he can make 1 yard on a sneak? Man, I still can't believe we ever hired this guy.
Handcuffing your quarterback to the point where you only allow him to audible on some plays but not others (in his 3rd year no less and 2nd in the system) is the mark of a big fucking moron. Gase really should be fired today/tomorrow.
Gase really is like Belichick. He is stubborn, thinks he knows everything, is terrible with people and the media, alienates players, and controls everything. Only problem is he doesn't do the winning part.
To keep your QB from audibles except for specific situations is yet another way of completely fucking up Sam ‘s confidence, execution and development. Yes, fuck up with his mind and his reads and take away any ad lib to get out of trouble. Talk about not leveraging his strengths. If we keep this egotistical moron thru the end of the year Sam will be damaged goods. This is akin to another controlling moron of a coach, Fisher, who handcuffed the QB and many fans blame it on the lack of talent and execution. Enter McVay and the Rams go from a laughing stock to 10 wins in one year with the same team. Say what you will, but superior coaching is the biggest element of a winning organization. Something we have not seen in roughly 30 years.
I know it's unrealistic, but wouldn't Sam's stature go up a few pegs in your eyes if he got into the huddle and said, "Fuck this guy; we're running the sneak." Realistically, what could Gase do? Bench him or suspend him? I doubt it. I seem to recall Staubach did something similar to Landry. If he didn't like the play Landry sent in, he'd ignore it and run what he wanted.
Can you imagine what Peyton Manning would have done if Gase had tried to take away his authority to call audibles? Gase would have a reason to have crazy, bulging eyes because Manning would have strangled him!
I've read that Belichick is willing to give detailed answers to what he considers good questions. Go to 3:50.
A possible replacement. https://www.musiccitymiracles.com/2...d-among-25-potential-head-coaching-candidates
The sophomore QB that started on the varsity football team my senior year had permission to make around 6 audibles based on the DL alignment (we ran the wing-t so we didn't have much lmfao) and you're telling me that Sam Darnold, an NFL quarterback doesn't have the permission to make an audible into A QB SNEAK in his THIRD SEASON? What in the world is this nonsense and how is Gase still employed? It blows my mind man, it really does.
You all know I'm the biggest "Fire Gase Now!" guy here, but I have to say it is possible that Gase was protecting Sam, and taking the fall for him by saying he didn't give Darnold permission to change the call. We'll never know, but I hope that's not the case because I prefer to go forward with Sam and not Gase, but I guess we'll see as the games play out if Darnold has progressed and learned or if he's been ruined. I will say that even if Gase DID cover for him, he's done so much damage to him and screwed up his self-confidence that him "covering" is "too little; too late".
