My man... there are 4 winnable games on this schedule. 2x Miami, 1x Denver, 1x LAC. The only game I can confidently say we can win is Denver because they are missing Sutton and their QB. Other than that? Nah.
Sorry but this whole Lawrence thing is absurd. It would be putting a very small band aid on a gigantic open sore. Not only has Sam had chicken shit Bowles as a HC with zero offensive talent and a hideous OL, but now he has a total and complete idiot of a HC who can not get out of his own way and we are to give up on him? F*CK IRA from Staten Island. He is not in the NFL, he is a fan like you and I. He knows nothing more than what he sees which is the same as we see. I want to see Sam play behind a solid OL, with some NFL caliber WR's and most importantly, a HC and OC THAT KNOW WTF they are doing. I mean we have an OC that nobody on tis Earth knows WTF he does besides throw Adam Gases handkerchief.
MIA twice, LAC, DEN, CLE, NE upset... or anther team to upset. Most likely last game of yr when patsies resting starters. We have gotten good at winning those meaningless games... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Forgot CLE and NE is last game when they rest starters. Last yr we beat DAL, so we had one good game against good team... not inconceivable, but possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lawrence looks like someone who can make his own weapons like what Peyton and Aaron Rodgers does and can play with anyone or any coach. Sam at best is “ oh if you build around him he’ll be good” that’s like Matt stafford or someone. If they have a chance to get Lawrence you take him
If you poll people in the NFL about whether the Jets should take Lawrence if they get the #1 pick or stick with Darnold, I'll bet it would look like the Gase-Bowles poll in favor of Lawrence.
I have nothing against Trevor, but what leads you to this conclusion about him? From my perspective, he has played with arguably the most talented college team ever since he’s been in college. He rarely is asked to throw more than 30 passes / game. Most times he has clear pockets and all day to throw the ball and wide window (easy) throws. His team would win with or without him, which makes evaluating him incredibly difficult imo. In his last two big games last season playing against legit college defenses, he completed 54% and 48% of his passes... and particularly in the championship game against an equally talented LSU team I didn’t see him carrying his team on his back. I saw him fold...
This is the key reason for me. But it's pointless unless you can actually build a team around him that could compete within 3 years.
Douglas' decision to let Robby Anderson go for PEANUTS really screwed the team. If Robby got 7/$120 MM or something like that in FA I get letting him walk. He got 4/$40 MM with maybe half guaranteed. You sign Robby...he's here in 2020 and 2021...then the draft picks take over or you re-sign him if he's a Top 10 WR and has great chemistry with Sam. We saw the same crap with Mark Sanchez where Rez and Tannenbaum change up all his WR's in Years 3 and 4.
Winnable games include MIA twice, LAC, CLE, DEN, and NE is last game... they will rest starters most likely. We are good at winning meaningless games to screw up draft position. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don’t think fans are finished with Darnold out of impatience but the fact the team never did anything to help him and forced a bad coach on him despite the obvious signs. When the only thing of hope left is a high draft pick and the possibly of a transcendent QB then of course fans will gravitate to that. It’s certainly not the organization that anyone has faith in.
Yeah, I get what they are thinking, but I disagree. Sam has no weapons. You can use your draft picks on weapons. Or use it on Lawrence, and now he has no weapons. Doesn't make sense to me. Sam just needs to step up and show the world he is worthy of being a QB1. Then there will be no issues or debates. Right now, the Jets look terrible, Sam looks okay, so fans gravitate to what could be with Lawrence. I don't think he will even be an option in the end, but time will tell.
A winnable games does NOT equal a win !!! Over the last 3-4 years, I would say we win 1 out of 3 winnable games. So if there are 6 winnable games, that probably means we are looking at 2-14 or 3-3. You think we are beating teams with MORE talent than us 4 or 5 or 6 times ? How ? Because we have the better coaches ?
Don't forget, Sam has 1 year left on his rookie contract before the 5th year option, and his production so far doesn't warrant a 30+ million per year deal. Whereas with Lawrence, if we get him, the other picks and cap space could be used to build around him as he'll be making peanuts for the next 4 years.
I like Lawrence as a prospect but Fields and Trey Lance (look him up if you’re not familiar) are awesome prospects as well As for Darnold, I think he’d be fine with a good coach and team, but I think the money argument for picking a rookie QB if in position is better than the ability argument
I think if he has more games like this past week where you have players dropping half his passes and a coach that looks clueless then it will certainly help his case. He can’t have more games like he played in week 1 though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
