That’s at least something to watch for. Will they take the mantle of being the worst Jets team of all time?

Kotite is still my benchmark from when I started following the Jets.

Any 40-50+ year fans care to chime in here?

We dont have talent period. Many of our starters would be back ups on other teams. All the coaching in the world would not help. You can blame the coaches, and while Gase has many faults, he is not solely to blame.

Previous GM's have left the cubbard bare. Bad free agent signings did not help.

If we get the number one draft pick, we need to trade it. This team has way too many holes and if Darnold is the franchise qb, which I believe he is, it requires dynamic playmakers along side of him.

The two are not joined at the hip.

Douglas likes Gase, as does many ex coaches and current coaches, but that does not make them "joined at the hip".

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I really don't think Darnold is the guy anymore. You can argue whether Gase ruined that or not, but his last two performances have been horrible.

Yes the talent sucks and yes the team as a whole looks like shit, but Darnold has shown me NOTHING to think he is the franchise guy we want

I think they’re going to find a way to win 2 games this season, but they’re going to be real nail biters.

Can’t blame Darnold due to play calling, blocking, lack of a run game, and no wr separation. Not saying he’s def the franchise qb, but he’s truly had no chance to thrive.

Gase's passing attack is brilliant in the -2 to 1 yard range.

Having uber complicated offensive schemes is not genius.

Genius is getting the collection of rock heads on the roster to understand your scheme, buy into it and execute it.

In Gase's post game he mentioned the emphasis on the short passing game was due to SF's pass rush. Well what about when they are no longer playing with their 3 best rushers?

As has been mentioned by many other posters here - his lack of adjustments is crippling this team.

The idea that we can't fire him mid season for lack of an alternative is BS. We seriously can't play worse and if we do we need that top pick more than anyone else.

Fire Gase now and let the debate begin on whether it makes more sense to draft another QB or try and trade back for a haul.

You think any competent QB can do well starting Hogan and Gore? In the same game? In the year 2020??

Jim Bob Cooter is a former QB Coach and Offensive Coordinator. He can step in for both roles, call plays, etc. Cannot be worse and will likely be much better!

Yes I do actually. I think many franchise QBs would be able to score points with the players we have.

In three years, Darnold has looked exactly the same. He's made the exact same mistakes.

By no means do we have top tier weapons, but Gore, Bell, Herndon, Perriman, Hogan, etc. all would be useful to many QBs in this league.

And I'm not looking for a "competent QB" I'm looking for a franchise one

Who let Bell go back into the game after he injured himself?

I forgot that Cooter was on the staff. That solves that problem.

I'd take Cooter from the Dukes of Hazzard right now.
