Ship may have already sailed. He looks absolutely terrified of the rush. I'm really trying not to go full dark side but the Jets track record really sucks over the years they have proven that if they can fuck something up they almost certainly will.

Sam looked confused and timid as hell yesterday. As if had lost every bit of confidence from last year finish.

They looked equally bad; Jones did more but he also fucked up more.

You'd look scared too if you had this guy watching you play.

Your not wrong we should consider making our mascot a big taco to distract Gase the whole game, we might actually win

I did a quick stat check when that post was made. His stats were near identical to Darnolds only he had 2 picks instead of 1 with about 12 minutes to go in the 4th. His stat boost came on a garbage time drive when the game was already over, only his garbage time drive (unlike Darnolds) ended with a touchdown pass.

Didn’t see the game, so yea, he might have looked better, but the results were pretty much the same: Under 20 points, 1:1 td/int ratio, and a loss.

Maybe I'm forgetting one, but the only nice throw (completed) that Sam made which I recall was the one to Bell along the sideline for 20 something yards.

Yeah, Darnold gets a TD on his stat sheet, but lets be honest, it's not going on his highlight real. 5 yard crossing route, Crowder made a guy miss (or bad tacking) and thankfully did the rest.

I wanted to vomit on his pick. That's shit that might be forgiven your rookie year. I'm so tied of hearing in pressers after the fact "I wish I could have that back." Well, you can't kid. So how about you just stop throwing off your back foot from now on, ok?! "I need to play better." Cue Judge Smails: "Well!.....Were Waiting!"

The Darnold dilemma might only be a dilemma to us. It’s not unreasonable to think that Douglas has already given up on him.

    Not his guy.
Was going to rebuild the OL regardless of who was behind it.
Took away one of his best offensive weapons.
Filled out skill positions with has-beens and never-weres.

Douglases job is easier if his QB is already on the roster, but his decisions don’t seem to line up with that being the case.

Yep. That was brutal. Good news is Bechton bodied a fool on the play.

Well, I guess we will see if they wind up pulling Darnold and go to Flacco at some point

How many QBs have succeeded only after they've had their 3rd offensive coordinator/head coach?

I know you know this but, learning offenses is like learning new languages. It doesn't look like Sam has been able to learn this offense. Why would I have the confidence he can learn another one?

This is also coming from a huge Sam homer. I really, really thought he was the one. He's just not that good.

That would be interesting because Flacco is a pretty well known commodity. Nothing much is gained by making the move unless they actually think they can compete for a playoff spot, which would surprise me.

IMO, Douglas did enough so that Sam will have to sink or swim in 2020. If he swims. the skill positions will be the top priority next offseason. If he sinks, well it comes to which QB Douglas and the HC(hopefully not Gase) like and maximizing that QB's skill set.

I mean, I don't think they go to Flacco short of injury, but I'm just saying if they pull Darnold for Flacco, you have your answer re: Darnold being a Douglas guy.

You're right. He declined his second year as he lost a couple of his top receivers and offensive lineman. Not very good excuses though considering he was at a power 5 school that recruits well.

The issue is that we are not really seeing the same issues he had at USC. He tried to fit balls in bad windows by forcing throws and fumbled a lot in the pocket. Fumbling (surprisingly) has not been an issue at all for Sam despite all that he's been hit his first couple years.

He looks tentative and scared with us. He doesn't look like he looked at USC unfortunately in my opinion already.

Darnold looked bad Sunday but that buffalo D makes a lot of QBs look bad. I'm not discouraged.. yet
