I wonder if any QB would have a chance in the Jets offense. It is amazing how many people think the success of a team is all about the QB.

Having said all that, it does appear that Allen's ability to run the football would give him an edge over Darnold in terms of getting a 1st down to keep a drive alive. Something the Jets badly needed in the 1st half against the Bills.

But even if Allen is better suited than Darnold for the present-day Jets, there is no way Allen would throw for 300 yards like he did today playing for the Jets.

The Bills were one of the worst possible week one matchups. They are one of the teams best equipped to handle early on of this wacky ass season with a team of vets mostly returning from last year.

Not sure why anyone is acting surprised by the result.

Anyone happen to notice a certain form or third round draft pick that was cut before even playing a down for us playing critical downs on the edge and getting to the QB at the end of the Rams Cowboys game last night?

    Fuckin joke. Top to bottom.

All offseason we didn't need Jadaveon Clowney according to experts here, good call .

Also, maybe you guys will smarten up and stop talking shit to Bills fans about Josh Allen, its embarrassing

Does Clowney throw, catch, or run? If not then he was not the $12 million answer.

No, he can't do everything that's for sure. But were lucky Allen got a little cocky carrying around that football, Buffalo could've put up 50 yesterday. Jets defense wasn't stopping them ever. They stopped themselves.

This further proves the point. Were we a Clowney away from winning? Nope. And probably most games we will lose will not be because we didn’t have Clowney.

Well I think most people watching that game can recognize a pass rusher is needed

Of course. But a one year rental that will take $12 mil away from next year’s tab is not the answer when you’re one of the worst teams in the league.

It's just not that simple when you evaluate a QB. Darnold was up against a tough Bills D. Mayfield was up against a tough Ravens D. Allen was up against a bad Jets D with multiple players missing and literally no secondary. Since he played the best, does that make him the best? Or would he struggle against the Bills and Ravens D's too? That is what you need to ask yourself. Would Allen struggle behind the Jets' O-line and revolving door of WR's? Would he struggle learning from Adam Gase instead of being in a great system in Buffalo? How would he be in Cleveland? That is how I look at things. Allen clearly has issues and they showed up yesterday, but he has such a great team around him, and played against such a bad team, it did not matter. It will matter in big game situations.

Allen's leg puts a lot of pressure on the defense. In doing so it helps the o-line because you have to keep him contained. You spy him you lose a defender in pass rush or the secondary. Allen yesterday was just the player.

Spying quarterbacks is dumb unless you have an elite defender doing so. Our problem was that there were massive lanes for him to navigate and no edge defender keeping contain. Kyle Phillips cannot be the OLB/end against a running quarterback and where the fuck was Jordan Jenkins yesterday?

    Bills Fan here.
I get the JA skepticism, especially if you only look at the stats. But as you intimate here, based on what you SEE, there is much more to Allen than stats. He brings passion and energy to the field. When he is running around and trying so damn hard, his teammates say it all the time: they REALLY want to work hard for him. Diggs, Morse, and Brown all talked about it after the game.

The jury IS still out with Allen, but man he so badly wants to get better and better, and he is. And he already wins. It is hard to measure the heart of a man until you watch them play.

That said, I think a new coach, a positive sort of guy might save Darnold. Gase is terrible.

Strong words from LB Jordan Jenkins, who said the team needs to show a sense of urgency: "We have to get everything figured out now. Otherwise, it's going to be loss after loss after loss. You've got to give yourself a chance here." He said the defense didn't show a "tired-of-losing" mentality yesterday because of too many mistakes: "Right now, it's all word of mouth and we have to put action to it."

I think Allen is decent but I'm not sure how much better he has gotten. The team around him has gotten better and he is a great runner. But he looked pretty much the same as last year. Lets talk losing two fumbles and throwing what should have been an INT in the endzone. These are the same issues as last season.Sure, against the dumpster fire that was yesterdays Jets he can get away with that. Against better teams he really needs to clean that up or no playoffs for you.

Or you simply realize the Bill's are a much better team. There defense was already solid, now they an offense that is looking good. The Jets have to correct a few things, and obviously get more talent on the roster.

The Jets play 49ers next game, and they are a superbowl contender, not much different than Buffalo at this point. Fans will go nuts of they lose to a Superbowl contender. Realistically you want to see Darnold move the ball, and the defense not beat themselves with dumb penalties.

I dont mind the other team beating us bcuz they are more talented, but they should not our hustle us. When the other team wins bcuz our own mistakes that's not acceptable.

  19. I get what you’re saying & i agree about the effort part.

But how many yrs have we been out talented by seemingly every single team? We SHOULD mind.We have this engrained “underdog” mentality as Jet fans that isnt neccesary. Finding talent shouldnt be this hard.Every 4 yrs or so..a team should field a somewhat talented roster capable of competing. Its not the “haves” & “Have nots”.Theres a salary cap & a fixed draft order for a reason. We should be outraged & disgusted w the talent procurement of this franchise. Its HARD to be as bad as they have been
