I really don’t understand all the Sam Darnold love. Yes I know he’s your QB1 on your team, but statistics don’t lie. To be honest, if the Bills had Darnold and the Jets had Allen, Darnold would have better career stats. That is 100% based on having better surrounding talent. But the one key area that Jets fan keep pointing to to completion percentage. The difference is that Darnold throws a lot of short passes and checkdowns inflating his completion percentage while Allen throws more intermediate and deep passes. So far, Darnold has shown better touch on the deep ball and Allen focused on that during his off-season work.

But to me, Darnold has a longer release, is turnover prone because of that and has made limited improvement due to horrible coaching.

To me, what will be sad is that after this train wreck of a season the Jets will be having, they will move on from Darnold, pick another young QB to ruin and watch Darnold become a superstar in Pittsburgh or some other QB needy contender.

While I watch Allen lead the Bulls to a deep playoff run in 2020.

Allen is going to have like four backbreaking first down runs on third and long.

I don't think Buffalo is that good, I think the Jets are that bad. Haha

    This roster is just horrendous.

I don’t think Buffalo is being overrated, or that anyone is predicting they “run away” with the AFCE. It’ll be a 3 horse race between the pats, dolphins and bills. I think the dolphins are criminally underrated and I believe they’re a legit threat this year.

I do think it’s reasonable to predict a bills blowout over the jets. The bills are probably a top 10-15 team and the jets are a bottom 5 team (all of this is on paper at this point, obviously). Just based on where the two teams are in the rankings, it’s reasonable to predict that a top third team blows out a bottom third team. For me personally, I don’t think that happens because it’s a divisional game, with no home field advantage, and they haven’t played any preseason games or had a normal offseason schedule. You really could see anything on Sunday

The Bills are a good team. It’s annoyingly hard to throw the football against them. But I don’t see any reason to assume they’ll blow us out. They went 10-6 against the same horrible schedule everyone uses to discredit our 6-2 stretch to end the season, and didn’t win a playoff game. Their offense is also not good.

Again, good football team. Not world beaters.

Excited that the season is starting at the weekend and that we now have a dedicated NFL tv channel for the first time here in the UK. But you won't be surprised that it will be almost impossible to watch the Jets in action, except in highlight shows. As always, the limited number of live tv games will feature fashionable teams and I have become reconciled to the fact that the Jets are virtually invisible on UK tv. Even in programme trailers, you'll search in vain for the sight of a green jersey. I realise it might be down to a certain lack of success on the field but the even more woeful Giants are still fashionable enough to be found on the schedule of live games.

So we need a very successful season, the playoffs as a minimum. And then, finally, I can watch the boys in live action. Please let me know this will happen. Please...

    I thought that after I posted. :D;)
The thing about Miami, is Ryan Fitzpatrick literally played really well last year. He will have to repeat that, or Tua step up, for Miami to be great. I think they will be pretty good, but probably finish last in the East.

I don't know where you get that the Jets are a Bottom 5 team. They went (7-9) last year. They have improved their roster and have a healthy Sam Darnold headed into the season. You may mean because Adams is gone, but I truly believe the defense will be fine without him and the lack of his negativity in the locker room will be a positive thing.

The Patriots are a complete unknown, but I can't count them out until I see them play. As for the Bills, I think their defense is great, and their offense is pretty good. I like Allen when he runs, but I don't trust him throwing still. The Jets' talent is not so much lower than the Bills that QB can't be the difference. That is why I think the Jets will win, as Sam will play better than Josh. We will see though.

Win, lose, or draw, I'd go for the belly dance night. I've always thought they were incredibly sexy.

Fitz is a pretty good QB. You could see the difference last year when Rosen played, they were the laughing stock of the league and were historically bad. When fitz came in, just one player got them from all time bad to winning games. They greatly improved their roster for this year. Defense looks really tough on paper, and I believe in their coach. Completely new and improved offensive line and running backs. They will beat some good teams and be tough to play.

Theoretically, the pats should be bad. They lost Brady and many of the key players on the defense last year. They have no weapons on offense other than short and intermediate route Edelman. However, Cam is a wildcard to me. He looks like a man on a mission. If he is rejuvenated, Belichick should be able to find ways to win games. I’m interested to see what kind of Cam shows up.

I have the jets rated lower than last year for 2 reasons, their roster and schedule. Our division plays a much tougher schedule than last year. Those teams out west will be a problem. The jets had really no talent last year, and I’m not sure they really did anything to improve that. In fact, it might be worse in the secondary and at WR. The only position group one could argue is improved is the oline, but I’m personally not impressed with any of the new guys except Becton. I think any improvement on the oline may only be slight. Herndon coming back should help.

Anyway, it should be interesting to watch since it’s not a normal year. Talent may not matter as much this year as in years past. No practice time, guys going out with Covid, guys having more soft tissue injuries due to less preparation and training, you could see good teams shit the bed and bad teams play smarter. Should be a fun ride, so I’m not counting anything out this year.

I'm optimistic, but nowhere near as much as you. I wish I could be, but see no way that we beat the Niners regardless of the time of day or whatever. The only way I think we have a chance is if we can shut down Mostert and Coleman. With their lousy WRs and Garoppolo, we could have a chance.

That is a fair assessment. I agree with most of it.

As for Jets/Bills on Sunday: The WR's of Buffalo could be a major factor with Brown, Diggs, and Beasley. The Jets have a new secondary, as you said, so they may not be on the same page. Same with the Jets O-line. So those are true concerns, which could lead to a Bills win. I just have a lot of confidence in Sam Darnold, and feel he can give the Jets the edge. He needs to be protected to have a chance though. Bell and Singletary will be interesting too. Establishing a running game will make it easier for the young QB's to succeed.

I just keep reading all of these Bills blowout predictions, but I think a 24-21, or 31-28 game seems much more likely.
Besides the Chiefs game, I really think any game is winnable on the schedule. They won't be easy, but with so much unknown this season, it is ridiculous to ever think you can't win. Maybe the Jets can't and they will flop like others say, but I don't think so. That is the team I want to see. A team that can compete week in and week out. Maybe they will finish (8-8) or so, but if they give you the feeling they can win any game, that would be good enough for 2020.

Josh Allen isn’t good but he is dangerous enough to beat this version of the Jets D. Jets o won’t score

    24-3 Bills in a snoozer

I'm a realist. I guess I'm a darksider. Been watching the Jets too long to get excited. New O-line. No Adams or Mosley. Horrendous WR corps.

27-10 Bills an route to a 5-11 season.

Same recipe to beat them as last year. Stop the run and Allen from moving the chains with his legs. Also no short fields for the Buff offense would be nice. Jets win on a late FG. I'm not sold on that team up North whatsoever.

Swap Darnold and Allen last year and the Jets win 4 games and the Bills win 12.

A lot of the reasons why I was confident in the Jets winning last years opener, I'm confident the Bills will win this year's opener. Hopefully I'm wrong again.

I know this is a prediction thread but:

-We still don't know who is going to be better between Allen and Darnold. There is no right answer to this question yet.

-Anyone saying Fitzpatrick is going to have back to back good seasons are nuts. He never has more than one (sorta) good season with any team - until he flubs in a big game. The irony being that he has played for both the Jets and Bills, and we should know this.

-There is no possible way our o-line can be as bad as last season because we made substantial upgrades through FA and the draft. Yes we haven't had much time to gel. But we should be much better at creating holes at the point of attack and our running game should be much better this season. At this moment the o-line cannot be considered a big weakness.

-It is highly unlikely the Bills blow us out. Greg Williams is not going to be fooled by the Bills. He will have something to keep them off balance. Where we might falter is straight up match ups in the secondary. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing our defense.

-The biggest issues with no preseason are special teams. Preseason is where special teams are built and gel. These will be the most dangerous plays in week one around the league. The team that plays the solidest on kicking plays may likely win the game.

-On paper means jack squat most of the time. With no preseason the best coaching staffs will shine during week one. If we look good I'll give credit to Gase.
