Classy guy this is the new GM putting his stamp on the roster. During the Maccagnan error (no typo) this would have been a lay up and Harrison would have been on the roster. I'm willing to see where this goes. Go Jets.
Wonder what Macagnan is doing now-a-days. Probably polishing Casserly’s off-color-toupee! I HATE those guys sooo much!
Thanks! That could definitely explain it. Gase's offense is supposedly very complex. Some players who were very good or great in college and who have great athleticism, don't have the right kind of intelligence to learn more complex NFL offenses or defenses. It's sad, but it's life. If this is true, then that definitely explains why he hasn't been claimed. Too bad.
The point being everybody saw him secure the bag and down tools and still got another gig afterwards.
Look how far we have come.. With Mac at this point in the Season with free agency, draft, COVID and only training camp signings the Jets would already be a complete dumpster fire At least Joe Douglas has a polished resume and winning track record versus MM throwing darts at a Board ..lol
Any word yet on who is being replaced by Andrews, Hairston, and TE Brown? I assume they will be Onwuasor, V. Smith, and either Clark or McDermott. But maybe it'll be Flacco instead of an OL? The other possibility is Huff.
I was thinking that Butler probably had separation issues because he can't run routes. His athletic ability and size is great, but if you can't consistently separate from corners they're just going to use angles to bat the ball down. There aren't too many jump ball scenarios that a receiver like that is going to 1) consistently win or 2) consistently get throws from any quarterback that allows him to win.
I will try to find the article but I read two different pieces on Twitter the day he was released about how he had bad hands and was dropping a lot of passes.
Yet can catch one-handed at the same time lol strange world, ah well we move on from the non route running slippy hands Butler. RIP we never even knew ya!
He's 6'5". I don't think he'd have too many passes thrown his way being batted down. With his athleticism and if his hands are as good as I think they may be, even if he has problems getting separation, I think he'd win jump balls all day long. The Jets could give him a simplified route tree. Were Jerome Barkum and Richard Castor great route runners? I don't remember. I know the game was different then, and maybe that would account for their success. One of them, I think it was Castor, had iffy hands and dropped quite a few passes, yet was still pretty effective. It may be that he doesn't make an effort to block or learn. Maybe he's one of those guys who tries to just get by on his natural athleticism and talent.
my point being that someone who is or has been a star has way more leverage or opportunity than someone who is a fringe nfl player.
