The Jets have 7 receivers -Perriman -Mims -Crowder -Berrios -Hogan -V Smith -J Smith They will look for others I am sure but they are probably fairly confident in the health of these guys.
The Practice squad is 16 deep this year, with 6 spots available to previously ineligible veteran players. A lot of these guys will be back in a day or so.
After letting Moncrief go, maybe Mohammed Sanu or Hakeem Butler might stand a chance of being picked up as Vyncint Smith is injured. I like the sound of a 5 receiver set of Perriman, Crowder one side and Mims, Sanu and Hogan the other. I suppose Bell could always be used as Gase says he wants him in on more passing plays.
Do players have to be cut and on the open market for a set time before they can be signed to the Practice Squad?
Wait they released Moncrief? I know he's nothing special but we can't really afford to diminish our WR depth. Guess Berrios is WR5
If a player is waived they have to clear waivers, essentially it gives other teams the option to claim the contract they had when with the Jets. However, this is not true for veteran players who are "released" vs "waived" Released players are immediately eligible to sign a new contract as I understand it. Jonotthan Harrison and Josh Andrews were both "released."
Waivers are the same throughout the entire year, with 24 hours. The "Released" vs "Waived" designation disappears from the Trade Deadline through Jan 1 of the new year, meaning every player has to clear waivers even f they are a veteran. Basically, that's so the best teams can't just sign every good player who is released around playoff time.
Just said this in another thread thinking it was this one… There’s no way in hell they plan on going into week one with five receivers, one of them being a rookie that hasn’t practiced yet and another one being a guy who hasnt practiced in two weeks… Right? They must be planning to claim someone or they are going to bring back one of the days we cut once the two Smiths go on IR.
At the risk of being mocked, IIRC Pats had 4 QBs with young Brady -- they didn't want him on PS or he would have been grabbed
The most shocking addition for me is Huff, though I think his stay is short-lived. The most surprising cut is Andrews since he was a Douglas FA signing this year.
Vyncent Smith will be hitting IR soon so there’s one spot. I also have to believe that Jeff Smith isn’t long for the roster, I’m thinking a corner and a WR will be plucked...some like the Butler kid who was cut from Arizona, and maybe one of the Eagle DB’s that was cut will be coming here.
Jeff Smith was a very good gunner last year. If he's healthy enough to do that again he sticks on the roster. I think V Smith was a gunner at one point too
I feel thay theres going to be a few additions to this team via waivers and we'll be letting go of the odd one from our defensive front Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
Wow! This is a pleasant surprise! Morgan must have been better in TC than reports indicated. Hopefully, no other QB will have to see the field this year except Sam, anyway, but I'm glad that Gase didn't hold onto Fales.
