Methinks your expectation of Becton are a litttttttle bit too high. Remember he's practicing against a defense that generates close to no pass rush whatsoever. He's looked good, but wait until he plays literally any edge defender with NFL caliber talent. Also this guy sucks. If he's gonna be allowed here, can't he just be regular old DWC? The Jeudy gimmick ran its course.
. .You are to Jerry Jeudy what Ralebird is to self-aggrandizing faux piety. . . . And while you're both boring as hell, the 400k Big Ticket necklace was a bit wtf?.....I'll give you that.
I wanted to like this post but you didn’t @Ralebird . Points deducted and shame on anyone that takes thread seriously and makes it a football conversation.
And for what it's worth, the chain Mekhi bought is usually priced at only $999.99. His cost 500k because of how much they had to size the darn thing up to fit him.
Becton hopefully will be our long term protector, but let’s temper our expectations. He is a raw rookie, and has a tough road ahead stepping up to this level. I fully expect he will have good days and will be faced with some rookie mistakes at the start. No different than Brick in his first few games.
Hypothetically if we took Jeudy and wanted to draft a tackle after that, we would have likely had to get Josh Jones, who I read isnt like to start for Arizona. I realize Jeudy >>>> Mims but I would rather have Becton and Mims over Jeudy and Jones. Not to mention Douglas got trade down value out of it as well, Had we not ignored offensive line for a decade then we would have had the luxury of taking a WR in the first round.
This is a very valid take Appreciate you bringing the facts Jones is having a rough time in Arizona I like Mims upside, just not a fan of his raw route running and seeming inability to separate (most contested catches), which might be why he fell in the draft Both Mims and Becton are great athletes who are raw with high ceilings, but there is also bust potential there, too, probably moreso with Mims than with Becton Why can’t the Jets take the can’t miss best prospect at their biggest position of need (WR)? They did it with Adams and it was the right choice, notwithstanding his attitude problems Many say they had to take Becton now and they can pick a WR in Rd 1 next year But WRs like Jeudy don’t come around very often... Douglas already made a bunch of moves to improve the OL and Jets could have taken the best LT next year I’m glad Becton looks like a beast, curious to see how Mims does against NFL CBs And I will concede that Douglas looks like a better GM than we’ve seen in a very long time Still feel bad for Darnold and his throwing options in 2020
I think it boils down to the long term vision of Douglas. You look at where he came from in the Eagles and Ravens and they aren't two franchises that are known for their receivers (Maybe with the exception of TO in Philly), but nonetheless have had recent success. He inherited a bad team and he stated that he wanted to build from the trenches. If you're mad anyone be mad at Macagnan for ignoring the most important position outside of QB on offense for years. Mind you I say this and its bothering me that Darnold doesn't have a real WR1 to throw to. Josh Allen has Diggs, Murray has Hopkins, Mayfield has Odell, etc. I think outside of Josh Rosen, Darnold has been put in the worst situation thus far. I am hoping Mims or Perriman surprises this year and we have a decent WR for once. Even if they dont, we have money and two first round picks next year. I expect us to aggressively pursue talent at the position.
If that’s what this board is about, then go ahead I will go out on my own terms, not yours Jets suck at drafting WRs and they blew it again this year https://www.si.com/nfl/2020/04/01/jerry-jeudy-best-draft-wr-real-story-behind-star-of-david-chain https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...jeudys-game-better-than-anyone-ive-ever-seen/
Go ahead. Log off until you get over your man crush Jerry Jeudy, Enough is enough. Are you a Jets fan or Jeudy fan?
