That sours me on Chase as well. Since the SEC is playing, they've been practicing and now he's bailing on them at the last minute, right when they're about to start their season? Sounds like a diva to me. With the recent history of great LSU players having attitude issues (Adams, Fournette), I think I'd steer clear of him. Let him be some other team's problem.
I get where you're coming from, but I think it's too much to call anybody bailing on 2020 a Diva. There continue to be a vast number of issues that are affecting different folks, and different families, in different ways. I don't know his situation at all, but if I had a little kid at home, or a dad with cancer or some such, I wouldn't be signing up to participate in contact sports for long while. You're no diva! I could have totally understood if he had opted out a month or more ago, when it was all being discussed. He wouldn't have had to have had another reason other than worrying about Covid, his health, and his future. I get it. Waiting until right before the season starts is poor, even if it's for a legitimate reason like a little kid at home, a dad with cancer or some such. His coach and his teammates have been counting on him. If he wasn't going to play, another WR could have gotten all his reps in practice. That's no way to treat your CS, University, that's been giving you an education and room and board, or teammates imo. That said, you have a good point. It was a knee-jerk reaction on my part, and thank you for calling me on it. He may have a valid reason that has only now arisen. If so, I will understand. If he doesn't have a valid reason, and it's just a matter that he didn't take it seriously before, or if he's worried about getting injured and hurting his draft position, or some other trivial reason, then I will revert to my initial stance. For now, I will wait to see what the reason is.
Bell was a elite player in Pittsburgh. They used the franchise tag on him their intention was to keep him. I don't understand what his QB, o-line in Pittsburgh has to do with it. How many great RBs played on great teams? Bell could do it all in Pittsburgh run, catch, block and carry the workhorse load. I can see why here he has that mentality. IF somehow he has regained his speed & quickness no one will complain about his contract because he'll be the Jets best offensive player heck he could be their best player period. And if not if he has hit the wall sometimes the best laid plan still doesn't work for whatever reason. It doesn't mean the Jets were wrong it just didn't work out. As for New England, the one year they went crazy in free agency they came within a couple of minutes of a undefeated season AND the Giants team that handed them their only loss that season had several key players that were signed in free agency (Plax, Pierce, Mckenzie).

Sam Darnold is not Ben, they don’t have any weapons nearly as close to Antonio Brown, juju smith shuster and back then they had martavius Bryant and Adam Gase has never proved to develop or have a good offense under his command other then having Peyton Friggin Manning. It was also very clear the Steelers were year to year on bell and had zero intention of paying him the money he got.
Your argument makes no sense. So Marshall Faulk wasn't all that in St. Louis because he had a ton of help around him? Curtis Martin wasn't all that because he played with a great o-line? And there's nothing easy about what Bell did in Pittsburgh RB is one of the most physically demanding positions in ALL of sports. Or even here he just sucked in 2019. In one way, it's too bad that Mac signed Bell. I saw today that NO is willing to trade Alvin Kamara, but then he wants more money than Bell did, so we wouldn't be trading for him anyway. He's wanting over $12 million per season.
The latest report has the Saints and him on the verge of an extension. Apparently there was a disagreement on money that they are working out and are nearing a deal. I don't think he was ever going anywhere
Yeah I think the Saints were just posturing. I don't like giving him big money either. Good player and extremely dynamic but you're always going to need a between the tackles runner with him to kill the clock in the fourth quarter. But at the same time - the Saints should pay him in the last hurrah for Brees. It's the mistake the stupid ass Chargers made last year with Melvin Gordon. Should've went all in - they had a SB team in camp before the line injuries.
