If he goes to the HOF and our draft picks are all gone by the time he does. Massive fail.
If he ends up being average and we get some ok players then it's a wash.
If he tanks and ends up missing games and our picks become All Pros at their positions then it's a win

iow..Whotf knows shot other than their biased conjecture.

There's a lot more likely scenarios than that though. How about Adams remains an All-Pro level player who looks like he's HoF bound, but becomes increasingly Revis-like. Maye becomes a Pro-Bowl level player in his absence and the Jets have a strong 5/6 years of play at safety. One of the 1st rounders becomes a very solid player who contributes for a long time, while the other is disappointment, moving on after their rookie deal without making a big contribution. And the money saved by not paying Adams $15m+ py lets the team add a couple of solid FAs at positions of need. It's very likely that final judgement won't be made on a polarized black or white judgements but will be far more nuanced along these sort of lines. Win/win and lose/lose outcomes are entirely possible.

There's also the remote possibility that Jamal continues his all pro play and one of the 1's we acquired becomes an all pro player himself. If the 2020 Seahawks 1st rounder is used on DeVonta Smith or Travis Etienne, there's a good chance we landed a player who will be above average.

I think it's already a huge win regardless of what happens from this point onward. The picks don't have to become All Pros in order to make this a win. The Jets not only got rid of a malcontent and diva, they got a haul in draft picks, and a very good replacement Safety in McDougald. The players have been careful to keep their feelings about Adams and the trade hidden, but little by little, they're coming out with comments about how there are no ego problems on the team this year, what a new, refreshing attitude and atmosphere there is on the team, and the great chemistry on the team. That's coming from players, not management.

Obviously, I think some of that is coming from the moves JD made upgrading the team during the offseason, the optimism of a fresh start of a new season, being able to focus on football rather than politics or Covid, and from the improvement they're seeing in Sam, Bell, and Q. Williams. I think they're all encouraged and excited knowing that they finally have a real, honest-to-God NFL-caliber GM who knows what he's doing. They know that the team will keep getting better. I think a sizeable chunk of it is that while they loved Adams' play, I think they had grown weary of his attitude, ego, his negative comments about the team, the CS, management, and owners.

I think the team will play consistently better this season once the OL gels, everyone who is injured now recovers from their injuries, and the atmosphere in the locker room and surrounding the team will be better.

I loved the trade when they made it... jamal became a cancer and i feel like it may not work out in SEA.

He will end up in DAL.

  6. Addition by subtraction as far as im concerned.Would rather lose wo Adams than w him & his deplorable ego & selfish attitude.

Easily my most hated Jet ever

I'm not quite at that point yet with him, but close. Revis is still my most hated Jet ever with all his holdouts, but at least he didn't trash the team publicly (that I can recall) like Adams did.

Adams is the most annoying Jet ever. I don't really hate him, because he is not worth the hate. He is embarrassing. I feel a little bad for him, honestly, because he is so misguided and unaware of how terrible he looks to the outside world.

No, it is 100% a win no matter what. Adams is off the team and the Jets received a great package in return. I've said it before, but you can't consider Jamal Adams an All-Pro for the Jets. That is not who the Jets would be getting in 2020 and beyond. He may do that in Seattle, but with the Jets he would have been a non-stop headache until he eventually would be granted a trade to get out of town. He has basically admitted that. If he goes to the Hall of Fame, and all the players the Jets pick fail, that is on Adams. Not the Jets (Except for the draft part). There was no option for him to be a Hall of Famer on the Jets. He did not want that. Clearly.

  9. I understand the Revis disdain but i feel like w him as long as he was getting paid *the most* he wanted to be on the Jets.He chose coming back to the Jets over the Patriots. So while he caused a great deal of negativity during his overall career w team,i still feel like hes a Jet at heart.

Adams is a son of a Giant..and a son of something else too.Ill leave it at that.

Didn't Revis make a comment to the extent that if he goes into the HOF he won't be wearing a Jets' jersey? I think I remember hearing/reading that. If true, then he will forever be my most-disliked Jets. I no longer really hate him. I shouldn't have said that I "hated" him. I did at the time, but have let it go. I don't hate anyone any more, but do still dislike some people.

  11. if thats true i agree & he pulls even w Adams, but everything ive read & have heard is that he wants to go in as a Jet.

And yes..the term hate is highly exaggerated. The only NFL person i truly hate is Bill.

Whatever our front office does with these picks is completely irrelevant to grading this trade.

Adams needed to be traded and Joe Douglas exceeded any reasonable expectations with the package he got in return.

How he was able to extract as much as he did with as little leverage as he had is mind blowing.

Even if we bumble all of the picks it doesn't change the fact that he needed to be dealt and this was a fantastic return considering all of the context around the position he plays and the stance he took.

It's true. The only thing that will hurt to see is if Adams suddenly (doubt it) becomes a ball hawk and has a 5-7 interception season. It's not his game, but that would make it more frustrating that we let the situation sour.

I don't think we let the situation sour. I think Adams did that all on his own.

No you're right. I don't think we did either - I don't think there's really any way beyond a mega contract that he wanted to play for the Jets next year.

    It's an "F".

A.) He was our greatest overall talent since Revis.
B.) He's already a 2x All-Pro and multiple pro bowler (First 1st-team All-Pro since Revis of his Prime).
C.) We landed two first round picks, which will become late 1st round picks due to Seattle being a great Franchise (25th-30th etc). And both will become BUSTS like Milliner and Lousiville Slugger.
D.) The rich just got rich (Seattle) and the poor just got poorer (Jets).
E.) Jamal Adams will help them win a SB and enter the HOF while the Jets get stuck with two busts.
F.) The trade is an F.

We got fleeced and nothing can change my mind. This franchise sucks and Jamal Adams wanted out because of it.

Seattle knew his greatness and threw away 2 first round picks for him.

    F.

It'll be funny when Adams pulls the same antics with Seattle if they don't give him his desired contract.

Pump your breaks, kid. Do you know who we drafted in the fourth round this year?
