For any new posters or onlookers, the standard is extremely low for the WR corps round these parts. Depending on a UDFA to save the WR group from being completely non functional is perfectly acceptable & if anything celebrated as it pertains to the FO. Not only will a UDFA propel the WR group to dominant heights but Its all a credit to JD’s keen devaluation of WRs in the actual draft & FA.
Also just as a general rule, you want to try and stay away from suggesting Lamb or Jeudy could have been the better pick.
Seriously still talking about OT vs WR in RD1? When you know damn well offensive line is more important. Lamb or Jeudy wouldn't be the better pick. Only thing I wish we did was take Bryan Edwards over Zuniga. Time to move on.
There were quality OL prospects available on day 2. Ezra Cleveland, Josh Jones, and Lloyd Cushenberry come to mind.
That's fine but the Jets and JD decided not to take shortcuts with the offensive line and to protect their franchise QB grabbing with what they felt is the best OL on their board. We will see if it works out
* Seeing our o-line punch open holes is fantastic....and seeing it come from our new LT is even better. LT's are generally good pass blockers and not-so-good road graders in the run game...Becton gives us BOTH! * Nice seeing the O step up with some good pass plays against the D, with our top two glue-hands on the sidelines. It will only get better.
It amuses me to read the complaining about not drafting a WR first. This is not Madden. It's real football. Sure, I wish Joe Douglas owned half of the picks in round one too, but he made the right choice with Mekhi. When we see Le'Veon break off 10+ yard runs it won't matter what WR wasn't thrown to on the play. I've been watching Jets games forever, and I am very interested to see the team built this way. Mekhi could very well be one of the unique players in football. To say "he could have added quality players for the O-Line on the second day" is quite ridiculous. We've done that for a decade, and all it does is provide players we are happy to see go three years later (Winters, Dozier, next it'll be Edoga). Of course Mekhi could be a physical freak who doesn't work out, but I love what I see so far. In fact, the rebuilt line looks feisty and combative from the skirmishes. BRING IT ON. Imagine how much better Sam will look with a running game teams need to respect? IF that happens, all of our WR's will look better than we think they are. We just gotta get Mims back into the fold.
Absolutely not.Its ok for others to insult anyone who thinks the WR corps is dreadful..but we arent allowed to respond?! keep your precious OL & shove it. This is an absolute JOKE.Please dont ever quote my posts ever again. Now its war.
