There's like no power in most of Connecticut

Drove through today and almost ran out of gas, very hard to find a working pump

Hey all, I'm on the North Shore of LI, still no power. Lost the top of a big tree in my yard, but thankfully it didn't hit anything. I'm in the local volunteer FD and we did close to 50 runs on Tuesday. Now carbon monoxide calls from generators.

Hope everyone did ok, got power back etc!

It’s amazing. I had a job today in sunset beach nc. Not much happened there, but just 3-4 miles up the road, the next barrier island , ocean isle beach got hammered. You can see ocean isle from the bridge crossing over to sunset beach. But the difference of just a couple of miles in a storm.
Sunset looked pretty good, ocean isle had like 5-6 house fires, cars pushed around in the surge, sand filled streets etc. the island was made to evacuate the next day, while sunset was full and hopping today.

2 possible threats out there in the Atlantic. One looks to head south of Florida, the other although too far out to tell, could head toward the east coast.

Invest 97L looks like it's heading to the gulf and should be watched. But invest 98L is the one that scares me...all signs look very familiar to our last one except models really want it to actually hit Florida before it makes the curve.
Models also show more strength with this one cat 2 or higher.
After that a third potential is just coming off the coast of Africa.
Their names in order of development will be Kyle... Laura.... Marco.
Possible in the next 4 days we will have 3 named storms.
Two in the next 48 hours.

Possible tornado in Middletown, NJ, this morning. A 70-foot tall tree fell on a house that the owners had moved into three days ago.

We were damn hot here in sc until about a week and a half ago. It’s still hot during the day, but more tolerable. As soon as the sun starts to go down. The nights are definetly a bit cooler and more comfortable than usual for mid august. I’m loving it. I have a feeling we’re gonna get a winter here this year though.

Headed offshore next Thursday/Friday to the Hudson Canyon for Golden Tilefish. Was wondering what things look like 6 days out. I'll be 80-100 miles offshore in the Atlantic so if there's any nasty weather headed up the coast, sound the alarm. :)

Should be an interesting week for the gulf. Good thing for them that hurricanes don’t merge to form super storms, instead they are more likely to weaken eachother.

One saving grace for that area could be that the first system churns up the waters so much in the gulf that it will actually have cooler water temperatures to work with for the second system Laura. Amazing absolutely amazing to have 2 systems that close together

The latest update is crazy. If this were to hold , basically the same area could see consecutive hurricanes.

Maybe a 3 coming in, and if it moved just a bit south it hits Houston.

Wow, gonna come in as a 4 now. Not sure how populated that area is, but NO and Houston aren’t far from a slide East or west. I imagine this may effect refineries too?

Port Arthur, TX (population 50,000) and Lake Charles, LA (population 70,000) are the largest population centers in the area. As you say, this is the major center of petroleum refining in the US.
