W/ Chad as a starter the Jets are 5-1 against Miami(lone loss coming in week 17 of 2003 on a disputed 2 pt conversion that would have meant OT) and Chas put up excellent #s against the Dolphins D:

    100-157, 1085 yds, 8 TDs, 1 INT, 98.2 rating.

Shhh. They have big bad Jason Taylor. You know the guy who cried and had a 28 Martin jersey in his locker.

This is exactly why I don't understand the people screaming for Chad to "go deep early" in this game, just shows they haven't been paying close attention. Chad just needs to continue doing what he's always done against the Fins and we should be fine. Our offensive line has improved since our first meeting, and their secondary is a terrible matchup against our receivers. Put that combination together and you have yourself a winning recipe on offense.

In 8 career starts against Miami Coles has 8 TDs including 5 in his last 4 games against them and he's had at least 1 TD in the last 4 games(1 was a member of the skins).

Just because people want to go deep early doesn't mean they haven't been paying attention. There's nothing wrong with changing things up - this isn't the Herm era anymore. If fins game plan is to take away the short pass, this would be an excellent way to attack them don't you think? Going deep early would put them on their heels and if we get a quick score maybe take what little life they have left in them away. If you believe their secondary is a terrible matchup against our receivers then why not go deep early???

Like I said, Chad needs to continue attacking this defense the same way he always has. There is no need to force the issue early, you think it's easy for teams to take away the short stuff? You think teams haven't game planned all year for that exact type of attack? That said the coaching staff could come up with a gameplan that calls for deep passes early and often and I would support the call. My original point was to say people should not think Chad NEEDS to throw it deep early to be successful, he's already had plenty of success against this team. He just needs to continue doing what he's always done.

The Jets have owned the Dolphins under Chad's watch. Yet another piece of evidence that points to the fact that Fins haven't been a good team in a loooooong time now.

gotcha - i'm not sure anyone feels that he needs to go early, i haven't seen any of that talk. Do I think it's easy to take away the short stuff? No I don't but if that's your main focus on defense it probably leaves the deep ball open. I agree with you - if he's been successful, keep doing it until they can stop it.

I just took exception to your saying people that want him to go deep early haven't been paying attention because I happen to think it's a good idea.

He just has to do what he did in the first game, not take unecessary chances and make mistakes but take the shots when he has them. I've seen alot of people say that the Jets have to come out super aggressive but I don't think that's the case.

They're tumbling to it this year. It's taken half a decade, but Jason Taylor's mind control tricks are no longer working. Now he says the Dolphins were the best team on the field and nobody believes him.

If the Dolphins lose out Nick Saban is going to take the University of Alabama job, you watch.

The only person on offense that looked good in the last Miami game was Coles. Everyone else had a bad game. So they need to do something different this time around. I'm hoping the run game will finally establish itself some more.

It's not just the fans it's the players, every time we beat them(we are 13-4 against them since '98) they say they were the better team, we didn't impress them, blah, blah, blah...

The players are the main thing that perpetuate the myth that the Dolphins are a good team.

Imagine if you will Mo Lewis telling everybody in 1993 and 1994 that the Jets were better than their opponent every week. That's kind of the situation Taylor has created in Miami. He's their best player, and a damn good one, and he keeps spouting nonsense about the team as a whole.

I seem to recall a couple of Raiders doing that also as the team collapsed in the 80's. Maybe John Matuszak, although my memory doesn't work all that well these days.

In his best start against Miami, he did go deep early and often (35 and 27 yard TD passes). I'm not saying it's neccessary, but he hasn't done this against them in a few games, and it would be a good way to possibly mix things up offensively.

Don't remind me. I work with a Dolphins fan who keeps on babbeling about how good the Dolphins are and will never admit they suck. There's another Dolphins fan at work who kept on teasing me about my Jets jersey. Tried to go along with it and brush it off, but one day had enough and kept calling it my pajamas. I told that idiot, "You have anything better, because my friend from Orlando can do a better job insulting my team than you can.". He told me no, so I said to him "Until you can think of something better, my team will continue kicking the Fins ass, so shut up.".
