History doesn't mean squat. Douglas is the new chef/sherriff/whatever you want to call him. I believe that every single one of his drafts will be at least solid, if not outstanding.
For sure, I am thinking (hoping) this is Gase's sink or swim year. I am not expecting playoffs but they need to be middle of the pack on offense and Darnold needs to take a decent step forward. If they do that + had a good 2nd half of the 2019 season then they are going in the right direction. If not, well I never liked Gase and it will be exciting to see a new coach + Joe D tear up the offseason next year.
I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd bet you the ranch he does. JD is smart. He knows that teams are built via the draft not FA or trades. He knows that they're not going to win anything this year, and he's building towards 2021 and beyond.
The Big Question: Can the Jets recover from losing a player who helped contribute to a 5 win season, 4 win season and a 7 win season? Or are they doomed to fall from the top of the NFL? Oh, wait a minute............
There’s no reason not to play for this year. With the deadline past he could be had for cheaper. I’d start with the Seattle 3rd. You add a bona dude pass rusher to this defense Jamal won’t be missed.
Honestly, Jamal is a total bi**h. He could’ve shut up, continued to play, and gotten his contract, but he opened his mouth. Regardless of what your thoughts are on it, you don’t publicly trash your teams owner based on allegations. You don’t publicly trash your GM and HC when you want a new contract. Why was Jamal okay with being a Jet in January when Gase was STILL HC and JD was still the GM, but now it’s not okay??? Bottom line is that Jamal didn’t want to be a Jet. See you later Jamal; I hope the door hits you on your way out you pansy.
I think this is a GREAT trade for the Jets for multiple reasons, but let me offer some that might be overlooked: 1) If the team falls apart this year and we do fire Gase, we have a great GM in place that is armed with tons of picks--this will help attract a top tier HC candidate 2) If Darnold busts, at least we have ammo to grab an elite QB prospect now (you draft one till you get one) 3) If we do well this year and Darnold blossoms under Gase, we can build around him in the next two years and become a powerhouse, plus we still have cap space for supplemental free agents In almost any scenario, trading Jamal was the healthy move-- We have a GM that makes moves and negotiates well, it's been forever since that was the case. Right now, we let Douglas do his thing. If I'm ownership, I give him full and total control, I make a public statement that this is JD's team to do with as he wishes.
It’s gonna be interesting to see if he’s going to play on his base salary this season Or will Seattle’s be willing to give him 17+million..They be foolish to give a safety that much money i don’t care how good he is ... or how good he THINKS he is
I dont have cable, besides its salmon fishing season here in Alaska. What are the pundits from ESPN and NFL Network saying
