My thoughts exactly. And if our draft choice is any good, maybe a 5-6th rounder for McDougald at some point?

Honestly most of us (me included) are probably underselling McDougald and mentally just counting him as depth when the fact is he was a STARTER for Seattle the last four years, and will likely start for us this year allowing us to develop Davis properly.

I got out of that article that Bradley is a “Swiss army knife” who’s “no slouch”.
Super. Looks like we got a special teams ace and two late firsts for our best defender. Disappointing.

You stopped reading the article one sentence too soon...

"I do want to remind you he is actually one of the top man-to-man coverage safeties in the NFL."

It also goes on to talk about how he played solid next to a crap safety because he was covering for him but once he was next to a competent safety he was able to play more freely and really make an impact.

It's possible you are salty that Adams had to be traded and took out of the article what you wanted. The objective truth is that while he is nowhere near as good as Adams was - he is a legit starter in the league.

Soon to be the Jets most overrated player.

I dont get the negative comments, even if hes a fringe saftey we got 2 1sts and a 3rd for Jamal and a 4th. The draft picks alone is a great deal but we also got someone who at a minimum can be our box safety for 2020.

There are people in the world that if you handed them a bagful of 20's they'd complain that it wasn't a bagful of 50's

Special teams ace? The guy started for b Seattle for the past 3 seasons. Wtf are you talking about?

If you're disappointed with this trade then you have no clue about how the NFL works. The Jets basically got the same deal as teams did for Mack and Ramsey - guys who actually play premier positions on defense.

Not to mention that the salary cap is definitely going down next year and Lord Jamal wanted $15+ million.

2 firsts and a third plus a stop gap starter at safety for a malcontent who literally forced hisb way out of town? The entire world thinks the Jets robbed Seattle but you're disappointed

I read that. But we always get that, don’t you think? Some angle to make a guy we’ve never heard of sound better than he is... you’re right, though. I am unhappy and feeling a bit negative. But I think we’ve all seen this before. I do trust Douglas though, or, at least he deserves the benefit of the doubt. I hope he has scouted and likes the guy.

Where do you get special teams ace? I didn't see any mention of STs. McDougald started the last 4 years and he is considered to be one of the top man-to-man cover safeties in the NFL. Calling him a "swiss army knife" just means that he is versatile and can play either SS or FS and play all over the field and be used in different ways.

Love his ability to follow plays and track down the ball carrier. His coverage skills will be super valuable too.

I follow the league closely and am well aware of McDougald. He’s a starter not a special teams ace. He will likely be the starter for a year while Ashtyn Davis adjusts to the NFL.

With Mosley and Williamson back to help in the box, it's a good fit that McDougald's main value-added seems to be in coverage.

McDougald's going to be a valuable piece alongside Ashtyn Smith and Marcus Maye.
