We got 2 firsts and a 3rd for Jamal and a 4th. I personally didn’t think we could get 2 firsts for him but here we are. This trade is brilliant. A in my book.
On value alone this is an A. There’s no arguing that. The problem is that we had to make the trade. Part of that is on Jamal but part of it is absolutely on the team.
This was a long time coming. Glad they got 2 first rounders,. They will be late first rounders, but that's fine. Love to Bell with his comments about Adams. Gm has cohones per his tweet. Sorry to the fans who bought #33 Jersey's.
The year of Covid with the potential of no college football means any draft pick is more of a crapshoot than usual. I'm happy the Jets got some value, but if I'm seattle, I'm relieved to not have to pick a 1st rounder next april
B. Very good value but being happy about this trade is effectively ignoring the rot that contributed to it happening in the first place.
the first was Jamal Adams toxicity and inflated self-worth. I’m glad he is gone for this haul. There are some issues with ownership (potentially money that can be spent and Adam gase but that will work itself out in the next year or so). I’m really pleased with how Douglas handled this in the end.
Considering they went after a fair amount of players that had good 2018 seasons for the 2020 draft, I think we just got to trust Joe D. I am sure that was part of the discussion about whether it makes sense to trade for picks this year. Either way we got another 1st in 2022 which god willing there will be a vaccine and normal seasons in 2021.
Exactly how I feel. Jets probably got decent “value” but we all know they didn’t want to trade Adams to begin with.
In what universe? He was giving the franchise a black eye and creating dissension, disharmony, and drama that was disrupting the new culture that JD is trying to instill. Gase may need to go, but he isn't causing the problems Adams was. Adams was the main problem they had going forward.
It takes 2 to tango,no doubt. That said it was Jamal’s very public actions that made it impossible for him to be extended & ultimately impossible for him to remain a Jet.He did that on his own
Adams was a great player for is but at the end of the day any player has a price. I'd argue that there's no players that aren't franchise quarterbacks that aren't worth 2 1st, a third, and an additional ~16 million in cap space (going by McDougal's contract), and none that are playing box safety. Even still safety is a strong point of the team after this trade and we drafted a high upside contingency for exactly this possibility. Losing a player of Adams' caliber will always hurt but the staff had a plan and executed it masterfully.
I was very surprised at the value in return, however I have said before 2021 draft picks may not have as much value as usual. I guarantee George Kittle is a big part of why the Seahawks made this trade.
