    DO NOT DO THIS!

I'm not someone who thinks any pizza is good pizza. Like I love sports but how are we supposed to take this season seriously?

Fortunately I already don't take it seriously, so it doesn't really matter to me. The worst thing would be how embarrassing it would be for the Mets to still not make it. It's a good thing I expect absolutely nothing from this season, because I fear that that is exactly what I'm going to get.

Whatever Brodie says, since a .500 record will probably get you into the playoffs this year, anything less than a playoff berth will be a massive failure.

Unless Diaz, Familia, and Bettances are far better than they were last year (including because of injury), the only chance the Mets have is if Jake is 10-2. Another .500 season from him presumably means more bad hitting and/or bad bullpen, and that spells doom. We shall see, starting in about 20 minutes.

And there you go, the 2018-2019 crap continues. deGrom gives up 1 hit over 5 innings, and leaves without a decision. What a joke.

I can't believe that they've sucked me into caring about this nonsense.

Cespedes and Diaz the heroes of a 1-0 win - who'd a thunk it? Cespedes has now homered in three consecutive games ..... played in May 2018, July 2018, and July 2020. The Mets have won 36 of their last 50 Opening Day games, after losing 8 of their first 9.

Cespedes HR and a Diaz save. That’s two things most people would not have expected coming in to the game. I’ll take it.

now the fun begins with our rotation.

    And if 2020 couldn’t get stranger...Familia with a 1-2-3 inning.

Don't worry, sanity is restored - Diaz blows the save in the ninth, and then the bullpen completely blows it in the 10th. Hunter Strickland sucked for the Nats last year, so he would have fit in well with the Mets anyway.

Betances completes the five borough quintet: born and raised in Manhattan, went to high school in Brooklyn, started his professional career in Staten Island, played 5 full years (and a few innings of 3 others) in the Bronx, and now throws pitches in anger for the home team in Queens. Can anyone else say anything like that?

Diaz trying to get to 2019 form. Got Ozuna to swing on that slider immediately before giving him the home run. So why serve up a belt-high heat just outside the zone? Should have just thrown another slider. Kid and Ramos outsmarted themselves. Maybe they can make up for it today.

    LFGM!

Saturdays game was a very ugly loss for the mets.....

felt like a typical jets game.

Fortunately none of this will really count, since it's looking likely already that they won't get through the season anyway! ;)

Alonso looks really bad (2-for-20 to start the season). Sure hope MLB hasn't figured him out already.

David Peterson becomes the first Met starter to win in his major league debut since Steven Matz in 2015. One big difference - Matz had three hits and 4 RBI in his debut, and of course Peterson didn't get an at bat in his.

Red Sox were just what the Mets needed. That team is ba-ad.
