Cromartie isn't the brightest bulb. I'm not exactly sold on Gase either but exactly how plugged into this situation is Antonio freakin Cromartie. Of course he's going to come down on the side of another player. You think he gives a shit about the long term future of the Jets? Has Antonio Cromartie ever thought long term about ANYTHING?
Have we won with Adams? I'm betting we can trade him and add to the team in a bunch of other areas (with players that are not childish malcontents) that will better equip us to win
Does this surprise you at all anymore? Adams is never going to take responsibility for this getting ugly. Do you expect him to apologize? He originally blamed the GM when he just fielded calls for him. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he begins to shift blame towards the head coach. He clearly doesn't want to be a part of this organization. He needs to go now and that's it.
I dont think he’s a true #1. And there are absolutely limitations to his game schematically. Also would need to have injury checked out.All fair points. But he is dynamic & will make big plays..maybe not massive #1 type numbers but enough to bring some legitimacy to the offense. He can play the Z & the slot. His style game fits nicely w what is needed right now.Suddenly WR corps & overall offense has a much different feel. Also think it’d go a long way w Sam.
If he thought about the long term impacts of his actions he'd only have half the number of kids. He might even be able to remember all their names.
Gase is the head coach so he's responsible for the defense as well as the offense even though he usually stays hands off. Plus Adams probably agrees with me that we'll never be serious contenders with Gase at the helm.
I'm pretty sure they were leaked by Adam's himself. Once notified by his agent, he took to social media and made it public.
No doubt, but that is not how life works. He is under contract and the Jets drafted him. Acting like this is embarrassing even if he doesn't like Gase or Douglas or the city of Florham Park or whatever. As I said, the Jets won more games last year than they did in Adams' first two seasons. A person with common sense would see the Jets are improving and it looks like Douglas has the potential to build a winner. Another question I have had: Does he talk to his teammates? Do they like him or hate him? It is interesting. I have not heard any other Jets player talk about Jamal recently or he talk about them. You don't normally see that. I would love to hear other player's thoughts on him. I wonder what other NFL teams think of this too. I am a Jets fan, so I see it one way and it seems pretty simple, but I wonder if others agree? It is an interesting situation.
If Gase is having the same reaction as all of us who could blame him? Why should he want a guy like this causong constant distractions & putting himself above the team? It’s a coach’s nightmare. Now if something else has gone down that Cro is alluding to..i wouldnt be surprised.I actually blame Gase for longtime head trainer John Melody’s recent departure.
You mean after he committed 2 penalties in a blowout loss? Yeah, who cares? What a baby. I would have benched him too just for health purposes. You are right though. That is truly where this all began. Adams was always annoying and a Me-First guy who never shut up, but he never was an issue at all until this happened. It has snowballed ever since.
OL, skill, edge rusher.... If an extra first rounder in 2021 yields Creed Humphrey, DeVonta Smith, or Quincy Roche, will we miss a whiny diva who's about to get paid?
That really was the beginning. Remember the phantom injury that followed. No way did Adam's have a high ankle sprain as the team was reporting. I think that was disciplinary by Gase and really sealed Adam's future here. In the Tuesday presser I remember a couple questions that really stood out. First was if it were a high ankle sprain and Adam's reply was you would have to ask coach Gase what my injury is, that's above my pay grade. The other was ,you left the stadium in a walking boot, when did that come off? Adam's reply, Sunday. Same day? Also while he was out with that high ankle sprain he was running up and down the sidelines, keeping up with plays, jumping up and down on the bench, waving a towel cheering the team on. No boot, no crutches, IMO no high ankle sprain. Had he played those games, he likely sets the sack record for a DB. Individual accolades seem important to Adams. I dont think the relationship is repairable at this point, even if I'm just being a conspiracist with my belief about the injury. I get Adam's point in wanting an extension, hes underpaid this season but more importantly, given how injured players were treated last season by the team , I'd want guaranteed money over several years too.
He was definitely hurt, because I remember how bummed out he was that he could not go 100%. He wasn't himself against the Bengals, then missed 2 games, then really did not do much to end the season if I remember correctly. Still, he definitely was upset about the benching. That really is a good point that most people don't bring up. So he was already upset, I think he removed the Jets from his bio on social media, then the trade rumors started and he was even more upset. The situation really might not be repairable and bridges may already be burned. Again, I don't agree with Jamal's logic or thinking, but at least we think we know what he is thinking.
If the Jets never draft a player again with an older relative who is a retired NFL veteran it will be too soon for me. We didn't understand the danger with Revis. There's no excuse for Adams. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...
It's no secret injuries were mishandled last season. Dont think players didnt notice . The media has hyped Adam's as all world, hes made 2 pro bowls, all pro as well. He deserves to get paid. What's coming to light makes sense. His career can end on any play. He should look out for his best interest, especially seeing how injured players were mistreated. Adam's claimed his agent told him Douglas called Dallas shopping him last season, Douglas says he was just fielding offers. He had just told Adam's he would not be traded. Douglas should either not have told Adam's he was untouchable, or not entertained trade offers. Same way he shouldn't have told Adam's he would send a contract offer in January. Well before Covid threatened the season, and not following through. There's been obvious tension between Gase and Adam's and the same is true of Douglas and Adam's relationship. I dont like Adam's airing his issues on social media, but his issues are valid. Being second generation NFL is irrelevant.
When the idea was floated out here on trading for OBJ, most people didn't want him and it seemed the most often stated reason was he was a diva. Someone said they would trade a 3rd for him and someone even said they wouldn't take him if he was free. Now people are suggesting a first and a third, or even 2 firsts for Adams, who many are calling a diva. How much do you think the Jets would pay if the shoe were on the other foot?
