I don't know what to say. Good luck to the kid. He wasn't a QB for sure. I hope he can succeed in baseball.

Well said. I always feel bad after the fact when some of these prospects are just absolute garbage. It's not their fault a team bet big on them. That's why I was happy to see Devin Smith be able to make somewhat of a career and hang around the NFL with the Cowboys.

It's the players where work ethic or bag holding becomes an issue that I never feel bad for (Trumaine Johnson, Wilkerson, etc.)

He'd make Wild Thing from Major League look accurate. Yikes.

Ha funny reading the posts here. He really was wild, with 40 walks to 33 K’s in HS.

he’s throwing 90 with a max of 92 currently but he just started throwing. With a program and in a year or two, I’m sure he can throw around 95-96...I’m intrigued to see if he can make it work being a PSU fan and of course a Jet fan who hoped it would work here.

PS- he actually was a much better hitter, OPS well north of 1.000 In HS

Guys with velocity like that should learn to become a fast working sinker ball pitcher ala Chien-Ming Wang (pre-injury) or Rick Porcello. Throw strikes, pound the zone and force hitters to bang the ball into the ground and find holes if they want to get a hit.

    Maybe Hackenberg does that.

One of the worst draft picks in the history of Jets bad draft picks.

I wondered if he had ever played baseball before. I wish him well. I'm just glad that he's gone from the Jets.

As long as the catcher isn't wearing a wide receiver's helmet he should be OK! ;)

I don't disagree at all, but I did hear through the grapevine on good authority that Hackenberg was a self-important tool in real life during and after graduation from college. "Don't you know who I am?" type shit.

I don't have any ill will towards him, but this is why I'd much rather root for the little guy and cheer on guys like Jim Leonhard than someone like that. I'm sure you said that not knowing he's a tool. Maybe flaming out has humbled him some, who is to say.

I know the name but Gholston didn’t record a single sack, he couldn’t even tackle people. I can’t imagine Jones was that big of a bust.
