Went through Branson Missouri last week and things were opened up and nice weather. Just watch for ticks, went on a hike and picked 4 off me afterward. Of course that is a longer drive than Florida. My previous suggestion of lake George or any of the lake regions in upstate NY would be what i would suggest. Not much travel time so you have more time to enjoy yourself
OK, it makes sense to stay put then, especially since you're diabetic; but if you've had a cold since you tested negative for the antibodies, & the test was a couple of months ago, I would do it again if I were you. Who the hell wants to be stuck in their backyard if they don't have to be? Not that there's anything wrong with inviting a 100 people to a BBQ and partying like it's 1999.
Great idea! If you make that choice make sure to save a day to drive a little farther for a day to Lake Placid and pick up a little American Sports History at the site of the Miracle on Ice. I haven't been there in years but it's a nice little town that had a lot of good places to eat. They have fireworks over Mirror Lake on the Fourth of July which was where they had the medal ceremonies every night during the Olympics. If you have any baseball fans in the family it's not too far to detour through Cooperstown to see the Hall of Fame on the way up or back.
