The losses suffered by the other wild card competitors in the past two weeks have left the Jets virtually in control of their own destiny.

Obviously with our game on Monday night, we can't help but watch as the key outcomes occur and the tumblers fall into place.

Hopefully, the Jets will be mired deep within film study or watching another fightfilm/morality tale with Coach Mangini, and not expending any energy watching these games.

The biggest obstacles to the Jets postseason are not Cincy, Jax, Denver,or KC...they are a loosey-goosey, "if-I-got-miss-Christmas-with-my-family-I'm-not-letting-you-aholes-from-NY-win" Dolphins...and the equally care free Raiders who are giving up New Years Eve to spend it at the Meadowlands.

    Thanks for the insight.

Seriously though....I just want to watch and see what happens. Each game can go either way and really, I have no idea what will happen but nothing will surprise me....hopefully we win. This certainly makes every game more exciting though, that's for sure...

Miami is certainly a concern. They have talent on both sides of the ball and a coach that if he hasn't been amazing in his first few years he's at least been competent. The fact that Miami's best player also has a hard on for the Jets/NY is something else that leads me to believe that Miami will be very tough.

Oakland on the other hand is a rudderless ship captained by a buffoon. Al Davis may want to stick it to the Jets but you can count on the fact that not one Raiders player cares. Unless the Jets manage to do something catastophic on offense like letting the Raiders score 3 defensive TDs there's no way they lose this game.

The Raiders scare me more than the fins do. Champ is right when he refers to their defense and Penny.

Agreed, but I'm glad Harrington is in there. The timing of their QB stiuation is good for us right now... benching, then a non-benching. Which is it and what will it be at halftime? No one knows, certainly not Harrington now, which doesn't bode well for his self-confidence. And the QB position is all about self-confidence.

Miami's D is better then the Raiders. And it's a divisional game. The Raiders were just shut out by a team that was giving up an average of almost 26 PPG.

Miami's front 7 is better. Their secondary while good, doesn't compare to Oakland's and we should be able to pass on them. I am very worried Penny will go into his retard shell against the Raiders. Luckily as you point out their offense is awful so hopefully we can grind it out on the ground and wait for them to make mistakes.

No question. Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas are a handful. Taylor has 12 1/2 sacks (one against us in our first meeting), 9 forced fumbles, 2 INT's (both returned for TD's), 1 fumble recovery and 55 tackles this year.

Hopefully Ferguson doesn't like getting schooled anymore by a guy like Taylor and will keep him away from Pennington. This is a serious matchup because Penny doesn't handle the pressure very well, but D'Brick has gone up against him already and has plenty of film to watch, I'm sure.

God. This is the ideal time for us to re-discover our running game big time. If we can run on the Dolphins, take the pressure off of Chad. We have a great shot. We must get in front of the fish early and make no mistakes. If we fall behind it will be tough. Miami's D is better than the Vikes. I say the NY D will bring their A+ game and fry Herrington. Small scoring game and Jets will prevail.
If the Jax loose, the Jets will be double pumped.

Is it not amazing that the Jets last two games are against their most hated rivals of the last 40 years?

Miami and Oakland and both down in the muck while the Jets ride comfortably above them. Who'd have thought this was possible in 1975 or 1995 or even in August?

I think both games are going to be very tight, much tighter than we anticipate, and I'm hopeful the Jets can squeeze out victories to give them a good shot at the tournament.

Rediscovering our running game may already be in the works. I was really encouraged by the way Houston looked against the Vikings, perhaps the stingiest run-defense we've played all year. And those guys were playing for a lot (in the run DEF department), because they were trying to tie that record (Chicago Bears, 1942???). Anyway, we pretty much blew that for them and that says a lot because I'm sure they had their hearts set on it. I especially love the way we accomplished the run... by using the pass first to set up the run.

The problem will be, the Dolphins are well aware of how we did that against the Vikes, so they'll be even more intense at getting to Pennington early and causing what has officially become known as the Chad Pennington Three Stooges Meltdown. Our O-line has to wear Superman costumes under their jerseys this week, especially in the 1st quarter.

Miami is now officially eliminated so I really hope they're sulking. I'm counting on a 20-16 type game. Close, and not much scoring.

there is no rationale behind fearing the raiders at home more than the fish on the road. The Raider D may be very good, but they cannot score at all!. 10 points can beat the raiders. 10 aint beating the fish on monday, that I promise you

You know what happened the last time we needed 10 points to beat a team? We put up a goose-egg. That Raiders game is definitely scary, especially since the players might be thinking like you and taking the team lightly. Obviously Jets fans still have not learned from the Cleveland and Bills debacles that we are not good enough to take any team lightly, I really hope the players have learned though. The Raiders may have an awful offense, but it's not like our defense has any consistency whatsoever, our defense when it is bad is flat out awful itself. Their defense is actually good, whereas our offense really isn't consistent either, and when it is bad, it is likewise awful. We have no room for error against any team, ever. This Raiders team almost beat the Chargers a few weeks ago, losing only because of a lucky illegal forward pass call and the ridiculousness that is LT. We don't have that type of luck, and we sure as hell have no one near as good as LT on this team.

    DO
    NOT
    TAKE
    THE
    RAIDERS
    LIGHTLY!!!!

Every Jets fan has to be VERY cautious for the next two games. I feel pretty good about the Fins, but i am scared to death of the Raiders game.

You really think Miami Front seven better than raiders, than you are for in a big supprise. There a reason raiders defense has improved so much. They severly upgraded their LBs corps. One of the fastest units in all of football. The LB corps of WLB THomas Howard MLB Kirk Morrison and SSLB Sam Williams /Robert thomas I wouldn't trade with Miami Lb's of D spragan MLB Z Thomas and C Crowder.

I will give dolphins a very slight edge on Defensiveline if raiders continue to start Tyler Brayton at RDE.(hes horrible) If raiders put out there best Dline. LDE D Burgess LDt Terdel sands RDT W Sapp(have a probowl season) and RDE Tom Kelly there Dline, would be better than Miami Dline,oF LDE K carter LDT K Traylor RDT V holliday RDe J Taylor.
Raiders could put out a Dline of lde D burgess LDT T sands RDT Tom Kelly and RDe K Huntley( Kid been really playing well since be activated two weeks ago)
Want to make a case. Lets go. Lets hear your arguements.

You look at both teams secondary and its not even close whose is better. Raiders CBs N Asomugha and F Washington are playing as well as any starting duo n football. Raiders have so much confidence in those two that they are left on an island(Playing man to, man about 95 % of time).

Raiders defense is way better than Miami. Going to cause more problems for Pennington than Miamis. Pennington can pick on Miami's secondary.
Raiders put out the dline I listed, and not only would teams(jets) have trouble throwing on the Raiders, but running on them too.

Week 17 must be your Super Bowl, jeaux. Especially after the abuse you've taken on this board this season. Man, wouldn't it suck for you if the Jets won?
