Thank you! That was awesome. What a gutsy performance by Richard Todd! Crazy final drive. Jets win 16-15. Nice! Seems like Todd and O'Brien had some pretty great moments. The Jets don't have a great history, but they have some pretty fun moments. Hopefully those are returning now, since the last decade hasn't been great.
there were also rumors of a failed drug test https://bleacherreport.com/articles...an-marino-drug-rumors-and-the-draft-day-slide
I was ten years old and jumping and dancing all over my grandparents apartment in Mount Vernon NY after that Barkum TD.....crazy kids eh
I flat out jumped up and down in a bear hug with the cigar chomping man who sat next to us each week in Loge Section 2 Row J. Up until that moment we only heard from him when he'd complain about having to get up from his seat due to us taking too many bathroom trips. If you know Shea, and know where that section is, you know what a great view of Barkum’s TD we had.
Haha, that is great! I would have too. It really was a wild final drive. Not choosing to call time out, all the clutch throws by an injured Todd, great stuff. The atmosphere at Shea seemed amazing too. It was never quite like that at Giants Stadium or Met Life Stadium.
Two of the biggest mistakes in Jet History.. Leaving Shea for the Meadowlands and not building their own stadium in NY when the opportunity presented itself. Rockaway and the old Yonkers Raceway Sites come to mind. There will never be a home field advantage for a team that shares a stadium with a local competitor. Side Bar: TDK, you would have loved the Jets back in the 80's. We may not have won the VLT, but we were RELEVANT for a time.
That's great, Sweet Pea. I'll make sure that makes it onto your headstone, but I'll take some artistic license and re-work it a little: "Here lies The Dark Knight. Life sucked sometimes, but I had some pretty fun moments. The last decade hasn't been so great. Please don't bury me next to champ. "
it seems there were 2 things the NFL really wanted to accomplish during that 83 draft........keep elway out of a raider uniform and put marino in a dolphin uniform.
. .So was it the "11 year old boy" in you who quoted my post and responded by posting that "Fuck you" quote? . . Nice dodge your majesty. .
Ok, fair enough. . I didn't like Marino solely because he played for the Dolphins. . At the same time I wouldn't have minded if the Jets drafted him and had him throwing to Walker, Al Tune et al.... .
What are you still mithering on about? I don't see anybody else mentioning it. But if you are acting so butt hurt about it, I guess it must have been true after all. Jog on fan boy.
Ryan and the Jets had a good first half of the season, starting 6-2. It fell apart after that. Little did I know that would be a recurring theme! That was my first full season of following the Jets.
