    Thanks for the great post.
    Now that Cinci lost, two of the three wildcard teams have to only lose once if we win twice, thats awesome

    If you really are a Vinny supporter, I would love to hear your argument (hopefully backed up by some numbers) why he should be starting for the Jets right now.

    OK, with the win last night by the Clots over Cinci, it is now ours to lose. Why? We must win out to go to 10-6. Cinci losing was key. Why? Because they play the Denver Broncos next. If the Broncos lose or Cinci loses, and we must win out, then we are in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Don't ask me what happens if Cin and Den tie?????????????I don't have a clue.

    Well now our quickest way to the playoffs is that we win out, and Jax loses next week.

    I know that is the easy way in and that the division is not over.

    I don't care about the division. I just want a Post Season game!

    OK, I know it's already been posted, but I wanted to get a new thread going. Here is where we stand right now:

    5. Denver (Record - 8-6, Division - 3-3, Conference - 7-4)
    Remaining schedule - vs. Cincinatti, vs. San Fransisco

    6. Cincinatti (Record - 8-6, Division - 4-1, Conference 6-4)
    Remaining schedule - at. Denver, vs. Pittsburgh

    7. NY Jets (Record - 8-6, Division - 3-2, Conference 5-5)
    Remaining schedule - at Miami, vs. Oakland

    8. Jacksonville (Record - 8-6, Division 2-4, Conference 5-5)
    Remaining schedule - vs. New England, at Kansas City

    I think we have a good shot if we win out, of course, and Cincinatti beats Denver. We also need to bite our bottom lips and root for the Patriots this weekend. Opinions?

    Why does Denver have to lose?
    If the jets win 2 and jax loses once -- jets are in -- or am i missing something.

    If you need the scenarios, rely on me guys :)

    Jets are in at 10-6 if ANY of the below happen:
    * NE loses 2 games
    * JAX loses 1 game
    * Winner of DEN/CIN loses in week 17
    * DEN/CIN game ends in a tie.

    That's it. No scenarios with Denver, since the DEN/CIN loser will have 7 losses.

    Jets are in with 9-7 if (3 of the 4 must happen)
    * DEN loses once, and KC wins out or DEN loses twice.
    * CIN Loses out (remeber, if CIN beats DEN, it helps step one but hurts this step. If DEN beats CIN, it helps this step, but then SF must beat DEN)
    * JAX Loses out
    * Jets loss is to OAK or BUF loses one game (at 9-7, and 3-3 in the division. BUF takes the tiebreaker)

    Here are the ways in which we can get into the playoffs:

    (wild card) Jets win 2, Jac lose 1
    (wild card) Jets win 2, winner of Den-Cin lose in week 17
    (div. champ) Jets win 2, NE lose 2

    If Jets lose 1, it'll be very tough to get in as Den, Cin and Jac all have tie-breakers on us and 2 of 3 would need to lose 2 and a lot of the 7-7 teams would have to lose 1.

    We get in IF JAX loses and we win out. PERIOD.

    If CIN/DEN TIE, then if we win out we're in. (Tie makes their best 9-6-1 which we can beat at 10-6).

    These are both correct, but again, 2004's post is more thorough.

    I can easily see NE beating Jax for us, although the gambler side of me would love to see NE lose 2 and us to win 2. Risky scenario, I know.

    I errored in the other thread. It is still very much up for grabs. Cinci's loss last night helped, but not enough for the Jets to fully control their destiny.

    Could Jax lose to NE? Maybe, but the Jags are a physical team - at least against us, anyway. The fact that MIA blanked NE has me worried. JAX could down NE. If we win out, and NE loses and it is up to Vince "Wonderlic" Young and the Titans to down NE for us to win the division I will not be able to breathe.

    Who knows what Miami team we will see this time. The Fins in NE team or the Fins against Buf team. I think it will be more like the Fins in NE team. There is no way Miami lays down for Saben. Taylor will be froathing at the mouth. Count on it. They would relish knocking us off. This will be a very tough, physical game. If Chad is asleep at the wheel at all and/or some bad mistakes by ST or D, and we will likely lose. We have to really play top notch football if we want this thing.

    This will not be like when Strahan won the sack record against "I'll throw you a bone" Favre.

    If there is one team you can count on, in this situation, it's New England. They'll be Jacksonville.

    While I would probably put my $ on NE, Jax is a schizophrenic team that plays really well at home. And obviously, they have someting to play for now.

    I really wouldnt count on the jags losing this weekend against the pats in fact the game i think they will lose will be at arrowhead against the chiefs, the jags have been really tough at home, they smashed us there and the colts too at home but away the seem that the jags cant pull away the game. They are 6-1 at home while on the road they are 2-5.

    And New England has a tough situation coming if the Jets win out and they lose those 2 games one in the tough Alltel Stadium where the Jags are 6-1, and one against the sparkling red hot Titans who have won 5 straight and 4 out of those 5 are against playoff teams, then the pats can lose the division.

    The way to the Super Bowl, if there is one, lies through an AFC East title and a round 1 home game.

    The way to the playoffs and respectability is best promoted by a Jacksonville defeat at the hands of the Patriots this weekend which would likely remove any shot at a Super Bowl appearance by the Jets.

    It's a tough choice, but I choose the much better shot at the playoffs in Mangini's first season over the unlikely scenario for a Super Bowl.

    The road to the Super Bowl is making the playoffs first. I'll get there and take my chances. We're 5-2 on the road..
