Iranian Kebab is better than Turkish Kebab. I ate the best Kebab in Tehran, Iran back in 1999. February 1999 to be exact. Ali Ghapou Restaurant to be exact. Here is the link. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur...Ghapou_Restaurant-Tehran_Tehran_Province.html Best Doner I ate was in Riyad, Saudi Arabia back in 2002. They call it Shawarma over there. Man I love food.
Love me some kebab and shawarma sandwiches. My wife works up at St. Joes in Paterson so every now and again I get her to bring me some hummus with fresh pita from Al Basha. That hummus is unlike anything I’ve ever had before...amazing. There’s also a fantastic Syrian place that makes the best shawarma sandwich I’ve ever had(not exactly saying much) unfortunately they’re racist assholes so I stopped going. Thankfully there’s a new place in Hackensack that makes a very similar if not better shawarma sandwich. For any of you that are in the area and are into that kind of thing it’s called Platters Corner on River St. right by Pep Boys across the street from Solari’s. I have no affiliation with them other than the fact that I think they make a bangin shawarma sandwich. They have other tasty looking stuff there too but their sandwiches are so good it’s hard for me to order anything else there.
My favorite is Afghan. I used to go to the kebab house on 10th Ave and 50th St about once a week during the late 80's and early 90's. Was like a ritual. They had cheap great food with a picture of Ayatollah Khomeini on one wall and an equally large portrait of Ronald Reagan on the facing wall. Was one of the funniest juxtapositions I have ever seen.
Love it.. If you're ever near here their combo sandwich or combo platter is awesome.. http://ibbysfalafels.com/jerseycity-menu.html#.Xpxfh5p7mu4
Personally I prefer Gypsy Grill on Newark Ave. Tastier and you get more for your dollar. Friendlier service too.
Grand Marnier cheesecake with apple cider glaze. I was going to make a caramel sauce but I changed my mind @Dierking:
I started weeding today in between rain showers (it's best to weed when the ground is wet, the weeds come out easier), and decided to make use of it. Braised dandelion greens @Dierking : They're so bitter! Like me!
Hot and sour soup with prawn toast and prawn crackers to start with Salt and pepper chicken with noodles for main course Mouths as dry as a nuns cunt for rest of night but it's worth it
Has anyone tried a German doner kebab restaurant? There's one coming to a town near me and pics of the grub look amazing I know pics can be misleading but definitely curious to try it out
German doner kebab's are made my Turkish/Kurdish people. So it should be similar to original Doner kebab. Try out and let us know.
Wow. You’re taking me back to my childhood with this. My Aunt Tina used to come to our house with a basket and pick our dandelions. Sometimes, she would make them in the pan, just like this. Other times, she would fry them in batter. I miss her and those days.
That sounds delicious! Just the blossoms, right? Everyone carries on about zucchini blossoms. You haven't lived until you've had pumpkin or butternut squash blossoms (any squash, really). Much sweeter.
That's right, now that you mention it. Yes, just the blossoms, but she did make the zucchini and squash blossoms that way too. I can almost hear her calling me a little gugutz, as I stood there with her refrigerator door open, just looking!
