Defense again is on other side of the ball, Mike linebackers make adjustments all of the time and get people in the right situation. It's not the same scenario. Manning changed plays, Aaron Rodgers changes plays, Mahomes did it in his 3rd year and I am sure if Andy trusted him then, then who knows how many other times that happened in the past.

Wherever it's to check out of a pass play to a run play, or whatever else, the QB is the extension of the HC. Adam Gase is not a bad play-caller 100% of the time after the opening drive. Darnold must also be better in situation football, to move the sticks and continue drives and IMO that along with his deep ball are his biggest flaws right now. Until people realize that, people will just blindly blame Gase. Gase of course deserves some blame, so don't make assumptions here.

The coverage and the leverage of the defensive backs dictate a lot of what the quarterback and receivers do as well. If the defensive back shades to outside leverage then the receiver will run an in-breaking route. And vice versa.

It's why it's been such a detriment to Darnold's career in having a revolving door at receiver year in and year out. Being on the same page is important.

Gase has done it longer. And has failed in all attempts except with Manning. He got an HC job because Manning led that offense. Outside of that he has failed to have a top 10 offense in every other job he has taken. Most of the time he hasn't even had a top 20. He failed with Cutler, Tannehill, Cutler again, Matt Moore, Darnold. When is it enough to see he is the problem. He cannot have a top offense without a HoF qb to do it for him. Yes Darnold needs to step up. He needs to take the reins. But Mahomes is as good as he is because he had a great coach and talent. Same can be said for EVERY great QB. Shula was good before he got Marino. They helped each other. Gase isn't good. Has never been good. He built his career off of Manning.

Jalin Moore was released. Making room for Gore. Replace young with old.

I think Sean McVay proved you can only take a QB so far before the talent of the QB must take over in certain spots wherever that be with arm, mind or both. The only talented QB Gase had was Manning. Tannehill had a very successful year with Gase and IMO the guy is not that good. How many games did Tannehill even play in that tenure? Cutler literally came off his couch to play - context is needed if we are going to use those examples.

Darnold needs to step up, so does Gase. Its a 2 way street. Too many times we've seen a drive stop because he wanted the big play. Clearly players and GMs support Gase, so while you say he's never been good, JD and Darnold put their trust in him. Darnold needs to be smarter, the more he knows about the scheme the more freedom he has just like Mahomes did. Time for both parties to step up.

No doubt in my mind Gase is going to feed Gore plenty. Poor Bell. And that's not to say I'm all that mad about the signing. I think he could be great for Perine. It's just not all that necessary.

It's absolutely everything to a young developing QB. Take what the defense gives you. Darnold is just not there in that regard yet. Even something as small as checking down and moving the chains that way, his accuracy down field needs work too. So if a DB is in position, he has to exploit that and also make the throw.

Gore is the same style runner as our rookie RB. Down hill thumper style. Perrine could learn well from Gore as his mentor

Cutler played with Gase in Chicago as well. And again not a top offense. That was before Miami. Not off the couch. Tannehill played well last year. And he played well before Gase got to Maimi. In fact his best seasons were before Gas. But I as well don't think he is great.

That said it's the coaches job to teach these kids how to read defenses and make adjustments. You think Andy Reid just handed the offense to Mahomes and said do it? I doubt it. He taught him how. Gase failed to do that with Tannehill. So far he is failing to do that with Sam.

The guy is supposed to be good at offense but in has never had a top 10 offense without Manning. Period. Not as OC in Chicago. HC in Miami. HC here. He cannot coach. He cannot make adjustments. He cannot put his players in a position to succeed.

He had Gase for only 1 yr and put up some decent #s and drastically cut down his interceptions the year before he had 18 and he cut it down to 11. Offenses take time to gell. Having John Fox as your HC also doesn't help, he's someone who doesn't want volume passers. Look at how he treated Mitch when he first came on board, he barely let him throw. No one is calling him great.

Whats to say Gase isn't teaching Darnold that? Reid + Mahomes gained trust and Reid gave Mahomes that freedom.

IDK where you are getting great from.

Why? He's 37 years old and RB are usually toast by 33 years of age. If this was a Gase want then you have to question it. If this was Douglas he could have gotten better. Gore will just take reps away from the rookie RB. Not liking this signing. Hopefully they move on from him after preseason.

So who fires Gase after this season? Douglas or Johnson? Could be awkward for Douglas since Gase got Maccagnan fired for incompetence and basically paved the way for his friend Douglas to get hired. Maybe they should put in on dirtbag Woody. He should be done with his ambassador job in November.

Gase cuts down interceptions but not allowing his QBs to stretch the field. Its many short passes with YAC. It works some until defenses start not allowing YAC. Then it goes stale like it did in every Gase offense not featuring Manning. That's why he is never in the top 10 offenses. He's predictable and never makes adjustments.
His qbs don't have 4000+ high passing yards.

Fox was the coach when Manning was in denver. Most coach don't let young qbs pass as much because they want the game to slow down for them. They generally let them work their way up. The bisquit is a horrible passer and I get why he isn't letting him.

Yes it takes time to get a qb on the same page. Same can be said for oline relationship and other things. He was giving the time in Miami. He failed. He will be given another year here. But hopefully when he fails we move on. He has had plenty of chances and time. Either Darnold improves drastically or we need a real coach.

65% completion rate with 7.6 yards gained per attempt (2nd highest of his career), 2nd highest adjusted value. He had a very good season, with a good running game to compliment. Saying F it go deep every pass play probably isn't the smartest thing for Cutler, when hes thrown 26 INTs in a season before. I don't see much here.

Fox isn't going to tell Gase / Manning what to do, but he sure as hell will tell Gase / Cutler how he wants to operate his offense. Yeah, not really seeing much here.

Cutler was in the league a while. Fact is the same offense Cutler ran was what Manning ran. Same that Tannehill ran. Same we are running. It hasn't changed. Short passes, YAC, and run. No difference. No long balls. Same thing. Fox changed nothing. Still not a top 10 offense. Yes completion % goes up. Yac doe some. But that doesn't translate to scoredls because it's all short pass. They were NOT top where it matters, in scoring. Tannehill completion % went up as well... yardage and td did not. Anyone can dink dunk, but if they can't score it doesn't matter.

So its obviously so secret who frank gore is, but with that said hes obviously a different player than the HOFer he once was. You guys got a look at him last year and this is both good and bad IMO. He will serve the same purpose he did in Buffalo last year. When he was being interviewed after a game last year after achiving a milestone, reporters were asking him questions and after the 1st or 2nd question he essentially said 'you guys shldnt be talking to me, you should be iber there interviewing that kid who just had his 1st 100 yrd rushing game'. THAT is what Gore brings to your team
He started out reliable in that if it was 1st and 10, hed get 2 yards. 3rd and 1, hed get 2 yards. Good for 2 yrds regardless of the situation. At about the half way point in the season however, giving the ball to Gore was the same thing as kneeling the ball. It took a touch away from a young guy who had the ability to break one on any given play - while Gore just didnt have the ability anymore.
It was also around that time where the occasional busting through for 10-15 yrds stopped. He just kinda seemed like he had worn out. At that point, aside from being a vet and providing leadership, his main fuction was taking handoffs to ice wins when you couldnt fumble. He could serve as a pass protection back but it was almost telegraphing a pass so even that was kinda negated.
He 100% was awesome though in showing Motor the ropes, how to be a pro, and was invaluable in that sense. The flip side was on 1st and goal too often turned into 3rd and goal bc Gore got fed on 1st and 2nd and was stood up. As you guys say, i think its a culture thing and hopefully you have a rookie that can benefit.
Awesome pro though and he will be missed from that point of view.

So are you saying Cutler is on the same level as Peyton Manning and should replicate the same success? Got it. Feel free to disregard that YPA stat I gave you btw.

Tannehill same thing with Titans, everything was YAC, so no point being made here...

    very strange signing indeed!

truly makes me wonder whether Bell is injured, unmotivated at an extreme level, or whether the front office is looking to move him either for money or culture reasons

i get Gore may be a nice mentor for the rookie, but feel there's some oil and water here trying to mix in Bell as well

YPA goes up with completion %. Each missed pass or interception drops YPA. YPA and comp% are nice except they were still not a top 10 offense. They couldn't score. So while he helped those stats he failed as a coach. He didn't take chances and played conservative. He is very predictable. All defenses have to do is play the short pass game and stop the run. Yes Tannehill had a lot of YAC last year. But he has a running back that took focus off the pass. And eventually he got shutdown in much the same way. He couldn't out score a legit team, much like Gase.
