Why? IMO Powell isn't a power back. He's faster/shiftier. Perine is more of a lightweight power back.
Cannon is trash too. I thought Gore and vets didn't wanna play for Gase Gore is an excellent leader and will help Bell.
Not at all. If anything Gore and Perine are redundant. Even then I wouldn't say redundant. It's just an odd signing... Perine was drafted because he's the perfect complement to Bell. Just let him get reps. We aren't going anywhere anytime soon so might as well use this season to get the rookies adjusted.
Never a bad idea to being in veteran that’s all about working and does everything right when you’re trying to change a culture.
this is a depth signing, likely for the vet min ... every team should look to have three solid backs on their roster this is a solid addition
He’ll get his reps. Probably 3-4 to start depending on what camp looks like. I said at the beginning of free agency , familiarity is going to be a big thing this year with the uncertainty around how much practice there will be. This exemplifies that.
Seems like an odd signing until you factor Gase into the equation. It did seem a bit iffy behind Bell and thought there was a chance for a vet to be added, but surprised it was Gore. I was hoping for Powell though. Should be interesting to see this backfield play out
I think this more than anything is the answer, look at him still going at 37yo, he just loves the game, none of this securing the bag and downing tools nonsense.
Small but good move. Gore is the epitome of the type of player JD is searching for. A solid vet who will do pretty good running behind Becton. He ran good for the Bills last year (I think). Gase just said he wants to use Bell differently this year and not rely on Bell to run the ball 30 times a game for better or worse.
He's at the end of the end. I guess veteran leadership for the young guys is the angle here. But at some point we need guys who can produce between the lines too.
The only thing I feel like this adds to is the money against our salary cap. Performance-wise, I don't see this as an increase in the slightest.
