Well I mean we didn’t bring anyone established this year so we needed more bodies to establish themselves on the roster. A guy like Peoples-Jones could end up being nothing great but I wouldn’t fault them for taking a swing at another potential upside receiver. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JD crossed punter and BUQB of the list for drafts to come. Won't have to go back to the well for those positions for a while. THANK GOD!!!
Agree... the guys left are no better than RFA signings. Selecting a punter who makes the team and ends up being one of the best in the league (which he is gonna be) is fine by me.
plenty of WRs will be free agents, plus not one WR has gone off the board since the Mann pick. Peoples- Jones over Hall no thanks.
Well said, and I think The Boot has that indefinable something - maturity for sure - that makes his guys want to play for him. Nobody wanted to, uh, play for Geno Smith. They wanted to punch him in the face, but nobody really wanted to play for him. World of difference there. Oh, and talent, heh. I really like Sam for all of the obvious reasons, but I feel good about him in a way I haven't felt about a Jets QB, probably since oh, I don't know . . . I don't know.
Pretty sure Lac Edwards is a FA and we haven’t resigned him - so we need a punter. Got a special team starter who could end up being top tier with a sixth round pick. That is a hell of a lot better than any wing and a prayer CB, Edge or WR drafted in the spot.
"He's such a great weapon to have because he can handle the long and the short punts. He was an animal last year, but he was plenty good this year. He will go inside of five (rounds)." -- National scout for AFC team
A left tackle with promise, you could stash on the practice squad at worst but predicted round 3/4 not sure why he has fallen so far tbh? https://www.nfl.com/prospects/prince-wanogho?id=32195741-4e53-2090-9e0a-56f56bf22fa9
Quigley was two punters ago ...LOL! But doesn’t matter they all blend into the same nondescript thought.....all lousy.
They gave the Pats an F on their kicker, the Bills an F on their Kicker and the Phins an F on their long snapper. Something tells me their grader doesn’t seem to understand that special teams is a huge part of the game. If any position player drafted after round 4 ends up more than a ST contributor it is a huge bonus.
Why would you draft a long snapper, surely they will be waiting in their droves after the draft has ended?
What's funny is, had Belichick been the one to draft him in the 6th, the entire football media would be talking about the importance of field postion, special teams, and why the Pats are so successful. AND YOU ALL KNOW IT'S TRUE (note: I just saw the post ahead of mine saying the Pats got an F, so....)
How would everyone feel about Jauan Jennings at 211? I know he ran slow at the combine but he was 5th in receiving yards in the SEC last year. 6’3” 215. Seems like he would be a good dart throw at this point.
Wow Mann better than I thought. Has great directional punting as well. Not just power he can nail the coffin corner punts!
