Our punting game has sucked since Ben Graham. All you need to do is watch Titans vs. Patriots in the divisional round to know how important and underrated punting is. Brett Kern dominated there game.
Had an 82 yard punt in college wow! No more worries about getting pinned deep and putting the defense out there at midfield.
I never understand these franchises. Like we already had a decent punter and we had to use a draft pick on one. Getting weapons for Sam apparently meant 1 WR and a backup runningback...

Never like to use a draft pick on a kicker, unless it’s the last piece in the puzzle. He is the top punter in the country, so at least there’s that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Actually gonna disagree a bit here. Symptom vs Cause thing here. Team captains tend to be high character dudes whose morale doesn't break when **** gets bad. And let's be honest - this rebuild still has a ways to go. We all know how brutal the NY media market is. You need a critical mass of those kind of dudes to mentally keep the locker room from folding under pressure. Because you know, at some point, it's gonna be bad.

Good spot in the draft to pick up a playmaker, even a punter, that will see the field and have an impact on the outcome every game. Pinning the other team back inside the 5 yrd line with a 2 point lead and time running out is not a bad thing!
Life as a Jets fan. I was nonplussed by the RB and QB picks, but now I'm like, "Hey, I like this punter pick. Finally, we might have a punter who is a weapon." But that's how I really feel. . . . This team has shattered my mental well-being.

Even the punter we pick we got good value. Just read two separate analyses that have him going in within the first five rounds. Joe D is nailing it this draft.
The one issue our new punter might have they say is that he needs to learn to kick with less power, he’s going out kick the coverage... Fun video, when he kicks 55 yards he’s upset + shaking his head... booms the next one (I won’t say how far).... what a leg!!! This guy is going to quickly ascend to one of the top punters in the league.
