I'm about 20 minutes behind but this was almost a really good call. I've never heard of this David Morgan guy the Jets picked and I wasn't really looking for a QB but I have to admit he looks like he can sling it.
It’s the fourth round so I won’t freak out but that didn’t go anywhere near the way I wanted it to. We passed in two big bodied receivers and solid CBs for a backup QB that hopefully never sees the field and another tackle.
Cue the freak out because no one's heard of this guy because he's from Charlotte and probably a good player.
Not with so many bigger areas of need on the team. Too many talented, proven players on the board at bigger needs than to take this major reach here. Also I'd take Fromm over this guy everyday. Fromm is a leader.
But the point is that if you take QB 3rd overall there's no reason 2 years later to be taking a QB. Unless the QB had down to be an absolute failure. Which Sam hasn't. Every pick this year should've been making Sam better - and finding an edge rusher.
https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/james-morgan-fiu-golden-panthers-nfl-letter-to-gms https://twitter.com/Jmoneyyy12 I assume that his Twitter handle is a play on JP Morgan but I don't see that James Morgan has a middle name.
Don’t hate getting an OT here but would’ve preferred AGG, Bryce Hall, or Biadasz. Oh well, hopefully JD knows what he’s doing.
Also for a guy this good, a ton of teams are passing on him. I dont get why people get stressed over players we didn’t pick that no one else seems to like either. Did Golden Gandy go yet? No? So maybe not that good?
Love Darnold, but nothing and I mean nothing was more painful than watching the Jets when he was out of the lineup last year. The Jets needed a backup QB more than any team in the league. Jacoby Brissett backing up Andrew Luck was smart. They just compared Morgan to Brissett.
This strategy only works if we fill more holes. Still a lot of talent bereft positions on the roster.
