The AFC East quietly has some of the best secondaries in football - Buffalo and the Pats were both top defenses last year, and while Miami was terrible, the additions of Bryon Jones and a 1st round CB should go a long way to bolstering that. Getting at least one receiver (two would be better) is an absolutely must for us tonight, With Anderson gone, Perriman unproven, and Enunwa's injury history, we need at least one WR on a rookie deal on the roster that could be a potential building block. This is crucial, IMO, for Darnold's development - and, frankly, our ability to evaluate him. If his targets can't get open on our divisional schedule, that's an issue. Most likely choice for our 2nd round pick IMO. I don't think we're getting another OL tonight; if you pencil in McGovern and Becton we've basically got 5-6 OL on the roster competing for the remaining 3 spots. (Edoga/Fant/VanRouten/Lewis/Winters/Harrison). With the other needs we have I suspect we'll wait unless JD has a really high grade on someone who unexpectedly falls. CB and Edge are still defensive needs, and while I'm pounding the table for a WR in the 2nd, it's possible that if we can't get a deal done to move up there will be better value at CB. Edge wise we need a speed-around-the-outside guy and most of the remaining top guys don't really fit that mold. I also wouldn't be surprised to see JD grab for a falling RB in the 3rd round due to Bell's sheer contract size and the way JD has been carefully preserving maximum cap flexibility for 2021 with his offseason FA adds.
Miami spending all that money / resources on CBs when the division doesn't have any WRs worth a damn besides Diggs... Boy Herndon better be healthy, he's gonna feast
I figure the best WR we can get in the 2nd is a decent possession receiver so if there's still a stud OL available at 48 I'd be happy with him too.
My eyes are fucking drooping, I tried so hard to hang on in there but up at 4am it is kicking me hard now lol
Semi draft related: What are your guys' thoughts on the draft hats this year? I think they're definitely better than recent years'.
I'm up, I'm up! I'm excited to see who we are going to draft today, have to admit that I don't really know the college players all that well though. All I hope is we get some weapons for Sam now that we've fortified the o-line, especially a WR. Let's go!
