Eh the same thing was said yesterday about JD moving up in the first....I doubt he moves up. One of Mims, Pittman, and Higgins should be there at 48.....
i like him, but is he a true WR like Mike Evans or is he more like Engram for the Giants... either way he wouldn't be a bad pick, but some of these other guys are likely safer 1k yard guys...

Just like OT was addressed in the draft after a decade of neglect, tonight WR will be addressed too. I am hoping that two of the three picks tonight are WR's. Lock down two guys (a WR1 and WR2) that will mature and grow with Darnold.

I guess I'm looking at this draft after getting Becton instead of Wirfs as a "screw it, let's get the freak player over the traditional skillset" type of draft, and I've embraced that. So for me, I consider Claypool unpolished but with rare size and speed, so I see Evans potential. And we're talking 2nd round so not a bad place to find that kind of potential. Hell, this team drafted Stephen Hill in the 2nd who caught like 11 passes over several years in college on tantalizing tools alone haha. Claypool's production matched up to his abilities in college. Love it-- this would be the only player to move up for-- Pittman. Hate moving up generally, especially this year/this team, but this is one I'd be ok with. Just have a hunch about Pittman, plus he's played with Sam.
I love Pittman for this team but I don't like the idea of moving up. This is a deep draft at our positions of need. There are so many good receivers. I'd hate to see us give up one of those thirds. ESPN had an article that said a personnel director believes this is the deepest second round in 25 years. We need a receiver but it'd be hard to pass up Epenesa IMO. And I'm completely against us drafting defense but the kids good.
Epenesa definitely interesting. You know if we pass on him at 48, the Steelers will take him at 49. Their type of player.
That very well may happen although the 2nd WR may be taken in the fourth round - not tonight. Either way the Jets are coming out of these draft with two starting WRs.
I see plax in Golden-Gandy smoke screens. don’t he will be there for our current second rounder, Maybe our first 3rd.
I’d much rather see the Jets take 2 WR’s with next 2 picks vs trading up for 1... these next 6-7 WRs are all similar talent... You stay where your at probably get to select between 2-3 then follow up with a guy like Antonio Gibson or Gandy Golden...
This is the other way to look at it... teams like Steelers/Baltimore just draft dogs. I’m not locked into WR with the next pick... still a lot on the board + good ones will be there in 3rd round vs Edge...
I probably wouldn't take Shenault due to his injury history. He's very good with YAC, but the last thing we need is an oft-injured WR. Ideally I'd like for the Jets to take a tall, speedy WR. That may not be possible, however. I do hope that the Jets will use 2 of the next 3 picks on WRs, I definitely want one WR 6'3" or taller and one who is fast. If we could combine the two in one it would be ideal, but that may not be possible. In terms of only speed, I like Mims, Higgins, Claypool, Hamler, Duvernay, and Reed. In terms of 6'3" or taller there is Michael Pittman, Chase Claypool, Bryan Edwards, Antonio Gandy-Golden and Collin Johnson. Here are comments on the WRs from NFL.com draft profiles Denzel Mims is 6'3", 207 lbs and has 33 7/8" arms. He runs a 4.38 40. Great catch radius. His route running needs work and needs to get more physical and compete stronger. Desire to be the best and love for the game could be lacking. Tee Higgins is 6'4", 216 lbs., and has 34 1/8" arms. Great catch radius. He has a limited route tree, is thin and as a result struggles to get off press, so he needs to get stronger. He played all 3 WR spots at Clemson, high points the ball well, has soft hands and is able to find the open spots in zones. He was also quite the TD maker at Clemson, scoring on 20% of his catches. Chase Claypool is 6'4", 238 lbs, and has 32 1/2" arms. Runs a 4.42 40. He has a strong competitive nature, is considered a contested catch specialist, works back to the ball, has a nasty demeanor as a blocker. He needs to work on his release at the LOS and his route running. Michael Pittman, Jr. is 6'4", 223 lbs, and has 32 1/2" arms. He runs a 4.52 40. He has two years experience playing with Sam. Has NFL bloodlines. Runs a full route tree, has strong hands, is good in contested catches, works back to the QB, has excellent poise and focus tracking deep balls, and gets after it as a blocker. Needs to be more physical to defeat press, lacks elite speed. More of a possession receiver. Devin Duvernay is 5'10", 200 lbs., 30 5/8" arms. He runs a 4.39 40, but is a straight line speedster. He has very soft, reliable hands. Is rugged and durable, can break tackles, and excels in YAC. Led the nation in receptions. He has tight hips and needs to work on route running. KJ Hamler is 5'9", 178 lbs., and has 30 3/4 arms. Explosive athletic ability and sub-4.40 40. Electrifying after the catch, can dart and weave. Small frame. Cradle catcher. Needs work on route running and tracking the ball. Antonio Gandy-Golden, 223 lbs, 31 3/4" arms. He runs a 4.6 40. Natural ball tracker, can get open vs. zones, huge catch radius, high points the ball, quick hands, nimble feet, can evade the 1st tackle after catch. Has had focus drop problems in the past. Route running and internal clock on timing routes need work. Bryan Edwards is 6'3", 212 lbs, and has 32 1/4" arms. He had consistent production against SEC competition, strong player, has quick hands can track the ball downfield, used on all 3 levels. Needs to work on route running, and preventing focus drops. Collin Johnson is 6'6", 222 lbs., and has 31 3/4" arms. Is fairly slow and has surprisingly short arms for someone his height, but what a great target he'd make especially on 3rd downs and in the Red Zone. His father was a 10-year NFL veteran. Uses hands well, physical, uses length to create space, understands route leverage, soft hands, good blocker. Tyler Johson is 6'1", 206 lbs, and has 30 7/8" arms. Rare ball skills, high points the ball and makes excellent mid-air adjustments, works back to the QB, basketball background. Not very fast or elusive. Lacks leaping ability. Needs work on route running to create separation. Van Jefferson is 6'1" but a great route runner, is considered one of the most NFL-ready WRs in the draft, and the son of our WR coach, so he merits some special consideration. Is very competitive. Above average release from press, can create separation. Works back for throws. Keeps CBs off balance. Lacks top end speed and production was relatively modest. Donovan Peoples-Jones is 6'2" and runs a 4.48 40. He can break tackles and get YAC, but has a hard time defeating the press, and getting open. Focus drops can be a problem. Never had a 100-yard game at Michigan. Joe Reed is 6'0", 224 lbs, and has 31 1/8" arms. He runs a 4.47 40, and is a very good kick returner. Core special teamer, north/south runner, is fearless and has excellent vision. Needs work on route running/getting separation. Talijia Lipscomb is 6'0", 207 lbs., and has 32 7/8" arms. He runs a 4.57 40. Excellent route runner. Can play inside/outside. Can adjust body well to make catches. Natural hands catcher and can break tackles and get YAC. Can return punts. Could struggle with press coverage, needs to get more physical. Could struggle to get open. KJ Hill is 6'0", 196 lbs, 29 1/8 arms, and runs a 4.6 40. Has a small catch radius. He is a fairly disciplined receiver and can run the full route tree. Is the all-time receptions leader at Ohio St. Consistent producer, excellent hands. Not afraid to go over the middle. Doesn't work back for the ball. Not great with YAC. Lynn Bowden, Jr. is 5'11", 204 lbs, and has 30 7/8" arms. Basically a slot receiver, but has value as a zone read RB and on jet sweeps. Is a PR/KR. Is highly competitive, slippery, hard to bring down. One speed route runner. Has had problems with fumbles. Needs work on route running. Antonio Gibson, is 6'0", 228 lbs., and has 31 1/8" arms. He runs a 4.39 40. Was a high school sprinter. Makes explosive plays running, receiving and returning kicks. Had 7 TDs of 40+ yards. Only one season of production. Needs to develop better discipline to keep runs on track. Still needs work on learning patience and how to set up blocks. Gadget player can be used at RB, WR or KR.
I hope we stay put...too much talent to throw away a 3rd rounder If we trade a vet or pick next year then fine
Tyler Johnson is very underrated it feels like. He's a complete receiver. Runs the entire route tree well.
