My opinion is just to draft with 2021 in mind. You could have an excellent WR corps after a year of development with Darnold. Diminishing returns this year, not next year.
Depending on how the Jets have some of these receivers ranked, I would absolutely consider a trade up. Outside of the Jordan Love trade, the trades lined up with the draft value chart pretty well. If the Jets have a first round grade on one of these receivers, they could move up up to 35 fairly easily. They could trade 48+79 for 35+ 109. That matches up pretty well, and the Jets may be able to get a 6th rounder as well. This only works if you have a high grade on one of these guys, though. There is a chance they can get two of these guys in their next three picks.
If this is true, it better be for Mims or Higgins I'd rather stay put and go #48-WR #68-CB/WR #79-WR/CB
In some ways even more so, this is the area we have let ourselves down in over the last 10 years or so and the reason we don't have a good squad.
I think with Bell and the 2 receiving TE’s we can get away with below par WRs for one season No doubt a #1 WR is a long term priority and I hope we get 2 WRs in this draft as well I just think with a much improved offensive line and therefore run game, our passing game will be OK...we need some help though
Pitman, will make a good WR2 moving forward after the coming season and could really shine if we get a true WR1 next season, he just seems to lack the high end speed of a true number 1 but really we are only talking 3/10ths it is a blink of the eye lol
He had a good first season but seem to be on the downgrade last season, not fussed tbh but Williamson I thought still deserved a place, he was a shining light before his injury.
Mentioned it before, I see Plaxico Burgess when I watch Pittman Jr. The perfect receiver that Darnold needs IMO. Hoping for Pittman / Higgins / Claypool ... I feel Higgins will be gone.
I agree that Darnold would benefit having a taller receiver to throw to. Bell, Crowder, Herndon, and Griffin are all good options. WR is just paper thin at this point. Do we really want to count on Doctson, Berrios, and Smith going into the season?
