Round 1 more or less went chalk for the draft and for us. Reagor and the second Ohio State cb were the two round 1 surprises. Ayauk was expected to go early round 2 so some players went earlier but for the most part went the way we expected.

That being said today we are expected to get a few receivers and I am all for that. That being said these three names intrigue me in round 2. Many people might be upset if the Jets do select these players but I am open to the idea.

    1. Josh Jones Houston: Considered a tier 2 offensive linemen. Will probably go early today but if there I would consider him. Sure up the tackle positions.

    2. Ezra Cleveland: Same as Jones. Jones graded out better so maybe tier 3 but late first early second grade. I'd consider him.

    3. Cushenberry: Was hoping maybe we could've traded back in for Ruiz but had a feeling we weren't getting him. Cushenberry would secure the interior oline. With Becton and him it could be a Mangold Brick situation. They could solidify the line for the next ten years and hopefully once again we can be one of the top lines in football.

As I said they intrigue me and I'd be fine taking them as long as round 3 is two wr. If we don't go there. Players I am hoping for:

Pitman, Hamler, Mims, Higgins, Edwards etc. Wonder how eeryone else feels.

I’d like Cushenberry but I think we go WR with our 2 pick.

In the unlikely scenario of any of these top-tier guys being left on the board after our pick, I’d be OK trading back up using 3/3 or 3/4 - otherwise keep the draft capital.

I agree 100%. I think it'll be WR and 15 teams pick before us but knowing how abysmal the offensive line has been it was a thought. Also knowing what everyone is saying about the WR class I can see a run on them and Jones Cushenberry or Cleveland being there. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Looking forward to 7 tonight to see it unfold.

    Ah round two.

Historically the round of nightmares for the Jets.

I don't see the Jets going WR or offense in round two that's not their MO. I hope I'm wrong.

Lol. Yeah I thought we'd go with Kinlaw in round 1. That would be a Jets move.

How isn't it their MO? Since 2010 they have picked six players in the 2nd round on the offensive side of the ball.

Anyways, I think there is no shot they go D here with this pick. I want Pittman or Claypool, but I wouldn't be mad if they grabbed Jones, Cush, Cleveland, or Hennessy and used both 3's to get back up and get their WR then Van Jefferson in the 4th.

Round 2 = Our Achilles Heel.

Hopefully, we address the WR pos in rd. 2 and CB/ER in rd. 3.

I expect this pick to be used on an IOL or WR.

Because they usually go defense in round 1 this time they went offense so for them to go all offense in the first two rounds would very out of character for them.

Also if this GM valued the WR position Robby would still be here. Inexcusable how they lost him with so much cap space and the franchise tag in his pocket.

I just think the Jets view the WR position as a afterthought position they'll be content taking one of the leftover WR in round three.

I think they go DB in round two.

I hope I'm wrong I hope JD proves me wrong.

My gut says Round 2 will continue to be about Offense

However, I believe there is only a 20 percent chance our next selection is OL..Douglas will most probably get Us Pittman imo since the USC kid already has chemistry with SD. After that Claypool would be nice

I cant creep into JDs brain on this but with addition of Fant and now mountain man Becton the OL is secure for a couple of rounds I believe

This is the gms first draft. How can anything he does be considered out of character ?

    Organizational philosophy. Past Jets history.

IMO losing Robby is comparable to losing Coles in 2003.

Having to use a high first round pick on a OT/OL because the previous regime left the OL in shambles = 2006.

    History repeats itself.

This is the first draft with this combination of coach and gm. There is no established history or philosophy. None .

That would be awesome to get Josh Jones and have both tackle positions on lockdown for a long time! I don’t think he will fall to us we would need to move up.

I expect the pick to be used on a rb or wr.

    My RB preference in order.

    Dobbins
    Swift
    Taylor
    Akers

I really think we need to land one of these RBs today and it would prolly have to be in round 2 as I don’t think they will fall to the 3rd.

I think there could be a run on RBs, defensive players and OTs at the top of Round 2. It may play out really nicely for us at 48.

    -S Winfield
    -S-McKinley
    -RB Swift
    -RB Taylor
    -RB Dobbins
    -OT Cleveland
    -OT Jones
    -OLB Zack Baun
    -DE Epenesa

WR Tee Higgins could go quickly. I think we could end up with Pittman or Mims.

I’d be happy burning a third on Mekhi Becton’s dad.

Coles was way better than Robby though this far in his career. Granted Coles played for a better Jets team but still.
