With the draft now less than a week away, I wanted to post a poll to check the pulse of TGG. Self-explanatory, if the Jets stay put at 11, who would you take and why? Let's assume this is a dream scenario where all of the main 7 (WR's & OT's) we've all discussed are still on the board! I know this is unlikely but with all the shuffle with the OT's, it is possible in my mind that any of them could get to 11. I'll start, I'm going with Jedrick Wills. He's my OT1 this year and I personally think he can make the switch over to LT but even if he stays at RT, he is going to be a very, very good OT for the next decade+. Unfortunately for me, I also think he's the least likely to be there at 11.
I picked Jeudy because I think he'd be the most impactful of the bunch - and very noticeable on the field, of course
Wow, I don't think I could've said it any better than you have. I absolutely love Wills and think he in his own tier of the tackles this year. Also I am very much in agreement that he's the most likely of the 7 to not be there at 11.
I am very upset by these poll choices I have watched Derrick Brown for years, I was in the stands last year for all 4 of his sacks last year. The jets would be getting a mountain of a man who nearly every scout calls BPA. Could you imagine Big Q, Big Steve, Big Shepard, AND Big Brown all together at once wreaking havoc on opposing QB’s. Im thinking they could combine for at least 5 or maybe even 6 sacks a season. Sure he didn’t test well at the combine, but my sources say he was double and triple teamed on all the drills! You have to look deeper than the numbers on a guy like brown. I’m so sick of jets fans not wanting to draft defensive tackles... Defensive tackles like Derrick Brown only come along 7 or 8 times a draft year. Can you imagine josh allen trying to outrun Browns 5.16 speed!? Ain’t happening! So yeah please edit this poll at your earliest convenience
I wouldn't be upset with Jeudy at all. I would prefer him over some of the other options on this poll.
I voted for Jeudy (or Lamb.) I think when you draft as high as the Jets at 11, you should draft someone that can start immediately and make a big impact. Having a guy like this means two things. 1) he will put points on the board 2) he will force the opposition to game plan specially in order to stop him. I understand the need for OT, so I would not be upset if that's the way they go. I just think a bigger impact will be made if they take one of the top WR's, if they're still available. Also, historically the Jets have done well drafting this position.
I actually had a "Defensive Player" option at the bottom of the poll originally but took it off at the last minute. I kind of assumed that since this "dream scenario" played out there would be no way Jets fans would want another IDL. However, after hearing about Derrick Brown's insane speed, maybe I'll have to reconsider this!!
I chose Thomas because we need an OT and there will be good WR prospects in round 2. Might be an unpopular choice.
I would take one of those top tackles over a top WR b/c good O-line makes WRs look good more than good WRs make O-line look good.
Here are the top guys on my draft board: 1. Chase Young 2. Jeff Okudah 3. Isahiah Simmons 4. Tristan Wirfs 5. Jerry Jeudy 6. Trade Down After Jeudy I see a big drop off. If I warm up a bit to Thomas or Wills, maybe I stay put but adding more picks seems preferable to picking one of these guys over another. If anything I might move up a couple spots to get one of the top five guys.
Thomas is my preferred OT choice, but I'd be happy with Wills or which ever OL is left and top-rated by JD.
Went w Becton begrudgingly. Day 2 better be all about WR.Not edge,not corner not anything else.Fix the skills around Sam.
Hi new here, if wirfs is there no brainer imo. After that I go Becton. Then after that Lamb or Ruggs.
Kurt. I would have bet the farm you went Jeudy. I can’t wait till Thursday. My gut tells me more and more that there is a trade down already in place depending on who is there at 11. I don’t have the slightest guess as to who the strong candidates are, but I’m guessing is either Atlanta, Tampa or the Las Vegas Raiders.
