Fun Fact Curtis Martin had his only all pro season in 2004 when Anthony Hands of Stone Becht was sealing the edge. Becht went to Tampa Bay in 2005 and Martin had his worst year as a NY Jet and retired.
Come on guys - you don't have to agree with everything or even anything, but the man has gone out of his way to talk about football and the Jets. Let's not pile on to him, whatever anybody might think. And I think it's a valid point that personal stats are overrated in the league. It's something to talk about, isn't it?
safety stats are a bit like offensive rebounds in NBA often the best offensive rebounders are on crap teams that miss a lot of shots, creating more opportunity for OR Love Adams. Who doesn't? Intangibles etc. But a great safety is a luxury, not a necessity. So if someone made an offer I couldn't (reasonably) refuse, I would not refuse. And we should all be worried about what Adams will expect in his next contract
It's not the POV that's the problem, it's being beaten to death with words. It's like being in your neighborhood sports bar where everyone has an opinion, but one guy sits at the end and hogs the entire conversation. Now in a real bar, they'd probably cut him off and send him home, or hurl bottles at him. I'm okay with expressing your opinion, and even sometimes going to lengths to provide support for it, but DWC is like offering you a drink from his fire hose.
That's pretty funny cecause the last time i checked, Curtis Martin was a 2x All-Pro for the N.Y Jets (not just "one"). 2001 = First-team All-Pro. 2004 = First-team All-Pro. 1+1 = 2. And don't forget about seasons such as... 1995 = NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year with N.E (no stone hands ala Martin was greatness from the start). 1995 = Pro Bowl (N.E). 1996 = Pro Bowl (N.E). 1998 = Pro Bowl (NYJ). 1999 = Second-team All-Pro. 2001 = Pro Bowl. 2004 = Pro Bowl. Etc, etc. And in 2005 Curtis Martin was already 32-33 years old with over 4,000 offensive touches of the football, over 17,400 offensive yards from scrimmage and exactly 100 offensive TD's (none of this includes postseason play).
Jesus Christ, I've been let go and suspended before because of people like you. A.) Go back and read my original thread while talking about nothing but football. B.) Now go look up above (your quote) and it's nothing but a one line filler and a cheap shot attack. C.) You can always ignore me. D.) You can refuse to open up any threads of mine. E.) You can block me. Maybe you should be the one banned for coming to TGG in order to not talk about Football. Thnx. Have a great day, sir.
i hope you are joking. The amount of effort he puts in should applauded not derided. Just dont read it if your brain hurts past one line.
In the case of Revis, sometimes less is more. He didn't have tons of ints, but he didn't have many passes thrown his way either. Teams actually gameplanned to NOT throw to his side of the field. Rex did a good job of moving Revis around. Many games Revis' job was to eliminate the other teams #1 WR. Other games, he'd shut down one side of the field. Yet in others, he'd take out the other teams #2 WR while we'd dbl team the #1 WR with a DB and FS. Too bad Revis was a money grubbing whore who wore thin on the fan base. He coulda retired a Jet and an all time fan fav if he played his cards right.
Although I mildly agree about Revis being a money grabber, most of the players these days are. He got what he wanted, lots of money and a Ring. he is still a player associated with the Jets even though he kicked us more than once. It has stung for sure. But in the modern age. It seems to be the norm with players.
I get it. They know their window to play in the NFL could be shut after any one play. They want to maximize their earnings before their careers end. Not saying I condone holdouts, but I see why players do it.
And so was Curtis Martin... Career highlights and awards 5× Pro Bowl (1995, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2004) 2× First-team All-Pro (2001, 2004) Second-team All-Pro (1999) NFL rushing yards leader (2004) NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year (1995) New York Jets No. 28 retired Bart Starr Award (2006) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_All-Pro_Team
