Thanks for the memories Jetophile .. The questions and answers suddenly made me feel like Darnold ..."seeing some Ghosts" but of our semi glorious past Jets..ahaha Oh well..the good ole days are gone and it's Breakfast time so I better take my Baby Aspirin lol
You got it Dierk. During the Patriot dynasty, Pennington is the only other QB to lead a team to the AFC East title. He did it with two different teams - Jets and Miami.
Very good. What is amazing is not only did the punt go for 98 yards but it also net 98 yards. I could be wrong, but I can't see how a punt can net any more, unless the officials put the ball on 1/2 yard line. This record will probably never be beaten for net. A 99 yard punt would cause a touch back.
Correct. Fullback Matt Snell (SB III). He gained 747 yards during the regular season. JETS FACT: Lineback Kyle Clifton played a Jets record 204 consecutive games (not including strike games) from 1984 to 1986. JETS FACT: Wide Receiver Wesley Walker is the only Jets player to score 4 touchdowns in a game He had 4 touchdown grabs in a wild 51-45 victory over Miami in OT in 1986. HAH, that was the game where my friend's wife said, "We should leave. There's nothing going on here." JETS FACT: The last time a Jets player kicked 8 field goals in a game was in 1972. That year Bobby Howfield equaled the club record for three-pointers in a game first set by Jim Turner in 1968. Please call Bobby Howfield, lol.
Are you sure you read this fact right ? I don't believe any Jet has kicked 8 FGs in a game. Howfield kicked 6 in a 1972 game vs the Saints - the last being a walk off.
It took 12 years and 2 extra games for anybody else to hit 4,000 yards passing in a season. I didn't even see Namath play during his prime, only as the gimpy guy taking a bunch of hits every game and I still know he was one of the top 5 talents to ever hit the NFL. It's too bad his knees were such an issue. In today's NFL he would have hit 5,000 yards every season and probably peaked out at 6,000 one of those years.
Not a typo, a misread. Yes, 6 not 8. I just went to the eye Dr. yesterday for a wellness check and an eye exam because I had to renew my driver's license. I passed, lol.
I've been wanting to share this for a long time because it's hysterical. I got this as a gift years ago. A Joe Namath ornament, what could be so wrong about that? A lot. You'll see . . . Not so bad, right? Wrong. Here's the back, where the fun starts . . . 1967?! Dill Rhodus, champ's retarded cousin? NOT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. What does that meeeeaaannnnn. I laugh every year. I have something neat to share soon, something I found a few days ago.
Ah yes I saw that rant a few posts back LOL. And you were correct ..... Oh and for the record 8 FGs in a game is the NFL record. A kicker for the Titans did in about ten years ago - forgot his name. 6 in one game is the record for the Jets - Turner in 1968 against the Patriots and Howfield in 1972 against the Saints .... EDIT - I forgot Jason Meyers last year against the Colts kicking 7 FGs. How soon we forget ...
I KNOW. https://www.thedigitaldreambook.com/keepsake_artists/artist-profile-dill-rhodus/ Hahahahaha. Please tell me that after I die my "artist profile" won't look like this. Thanks in advance. And for any Dill Rhodus fans who just have to have it: https://www.ornament-shop.com/dill-rhodus/ OK, that's my entertainment for the day.
What original AFL star backed up quarterback Joe Namath on the Jets Super Bowl winning team in 1968? Not 1969, champ, 1968.
Kind of a gimme. You are correct: Babe Parilli. He attempted 55 passes for 401 yards and five touchdowns that season. Party of two in here. At least I don't smell. Not that you do. JETS FACT: Safety Lee Riley led all of pro football when he intercepted 11 passes in 1962.
Oh, so close yet so far! Vito. There's more Babe Parilli questions coming. The guy who made the calendar is probably a paisan, lol.
I said some pages back that I found something neat that I was going to post and I never got around to it. I found some old stickers! ^Cloth. Probably from around 1972, because when Namath was drafted the logo was the same but it was on a little bit of a tilt upwards. ^And these! These are definitely from 1977, the first year of the old "new" uniforms. I have about 15 sheets of them, some of them used. I stuck them on a bunch of my binders in the 8th grade. Well, that was fun. '75, '76, '77, 3-11, 3-11, 3-11! A rhyme that's not so fun. I hate the Jets. Here ya go, champ.
It is still the best logo with the Jet on, I am biased as that is what they had when I first started of course.
