MUCH BETTER THAN I EXPECTED! I DON'T THINK SAM WILL MISS A BEAT FROM THE LOSS OF ROBBY. This guy has Robby like speed, good hands, 1 inch shorter but 30 lbs. Heavier! :p

I just watched the last two games of Perriman’s 2019 season. Week 16 vs Houston he made some plays, week 17 vs Atlanta he dominated the game. It’s easy to get excited watching that one, but Atlanta’s pass defense was just atrocious in the secondary. Still, it’s more than obvious he has found a rhythm, and he can be productive if used well. He did a lot of good things, including defensing potential interceptions and forcing interference calls. He’s not Randy Moss, but interms of value this could be a tremendou signing.

I like this signing, another one year deal at a decent price.

If we draft a WR (or 2), its a decent group of receivers we have on Offence. Perriman, drafted WR, Crowder in the slot, Herndon (if fit) at TE and Bell at RB, who is one of the better RB receivers in the league...... If Gase ever chooses to use him like that!

Yet when he was floating about the season before last unsigned and we were desperate nobody on here wanted him and said he had soapy hands, funny what a season can do for you.:D

So give a guy who has no chemistry with Darnold 6 million a year instead?Perriman isnt an explosive reciver...Robby is better then Perriman. We fail to resign our own good players year after year..and Jets fans cheer it.

Edoga was better than shell. That’s why shell was benched for edoga twice.

Edoga was playing for potential not because of his performance. Shell actually played pretty well last year and was much better than Edoga. Hopefully Edoga will benefit from that playtime this year.

Edoga was better at right tackle , that’s why he was in. He was brutal at left tackle but still a better player than shell on the right side.

We can argue back and forth about Anderson's abilities as a WR, but Perriman is a very similar receiver that came at half the price.

Explain to me why Perriman is not an "explosive recevier".

And this has nothing to do with failing to resign our own players year after year. We just brought back Jenkins, Burgess, Hewitt, Maulet, and Poole. Those were all guys that were on our roster last year.

This is about getting talent at a price tag that does not hinder us in the future. Paying a one dimensional WR $10-12 million per year would have been ridiculous. Especially a #2 WR at that.

    Please explain.

What's your reasoning on why he's a "huge downgrade"?

Downgrade, but hopefully Perriman shows more. Huge might be an overreaction a little bit.

Cimini is only looking at last season with Anderson which was a huge anomaly. in 2018 only 28% of his catches were inside the numbers. For his career he's around 30

Pretty sure that version of Anderson will be the one you will see going forward.

Not if he has a QB who actually has TIME IN THE POCKET in order for his routes to truly develop it won't be lol and I'm sure he won't have 4 different OCs during a 4 year period again lol again!!!

Solid signing. Would I rather have Robby back at 6-8 mark this year? Yes, because Robby outperformed Perriman every single year they have been in the League, including last year. He already knows Jets system, while Perriman is new to the Jets and there is a risk he will play more like he did in Baltimore, Cleveland, and first half of Tampa, rather than the way he played last 5 games there. So, it makes sense to me that Jets waited for Anderson domino to fall, and Perriman was a plan B, while Anderson plan A.

With that said, when you consider that he ended a season on a huge 5 game roll and nearly equaled Robby's production for the entire 2019 season in that stretch alone, he does have some good upside as well that may even surpass that of Robby in 2020. Neither of these guys is #1 WR, and given Robby was able to get 12 mil and #1 WR money for 2020, it's a very solid move to shift to the next best thing in the fair #2 WR price range of 6-8 mil. Solid signing of #2 WR Perriman, who has question marks, but has an exciting upside as well.

Joe Brady is a pretty good OC, not too sure about their offensive line, but Robby is a far better player.

So he's a downgrade because he was playing with Mike Evans who had 67 receptions and 1,157 yards, and Chris Godwin who had 86 receptions and 1,333 yards, while Anderson was playing with Jamison Crowder who had 78 receptions and 833 yards.

You think maybe Anderson was all over the field because the only other serviceable receiver on the field was a slot receiver? Hell, when Evans and Godwin were out with injuries, Perriman put up 500+ yards and 5 TD's as the #1 receiver. Let's also not factor in the fact that Darnold did not play an entire year and was running for his life at all times, thus causing Anderson to move with him out of the pocket almost every single game.

Perriman played with two other receivers who combined for 145 catches, 2,490 yards, and 17 TD's.

Anderson played with one other main receiver who had 78 catches, 833 yards, and 6 TD's.

The graph shows Robby was able to do more than just run go routes.

+ Tampa Bay has a far better offensive philosophy the last 2 years (Monken and Arians)
+ They always abandon the run

Robby is also better player in terms of tracking the ball down the field, I've seen Perriman play with both CLE and TB. Its a down-grade as of now, and a player cannot be judged specifically on just stats. Hopefully Perriman shows up. I don't know what we are truly getting.
