Going to the movies today to see the 2020 version of Universal Soldier aka: Bloodshot. Checked with the local theatre and they're limiting seating to 50% capacity. #Fearless.
'Thoroughbreds'. I saw it a couple of months ago, and I really liked it. Black comedy/thriller. Two exorbitantly, incredibly rich young girls, who are so rich that their they're bored shitless, plot to murder one of the pair's evil stepfather. He's such a fucking piece of shit that you almost find yourself egging them on. Spoiler They do it. Spoiler The one portrayed as the disconnected psycho isn't really the disconnected psycho. It made me sad to see Anton Yelchin. He was right on the cusp of really breaking through. Good acting chops cut short way too soon. What a freakish and horrible way to die. Poor bastard.
I thought the trailer looked good, but I heard it was bad. What did you think? Yeah, Anton was great. I enjoyed Thoroughbreds. I like Olivia Cooke. She was Emma on Bates Motel. Anya Taylor Joy is always wonderful too.
If you like your movies CGI heavy, this one should be on your list. Started off as a Universal Soldier knockoff but then the plot took a different path. It's a pretty typical Vin Diesel movie. One hot dame and generic bad guys fill out the cast. Lots of Brits again as all of it was made offshore. Tax thing maybe but I'm noticing that more often than not. All in all, I liked it. Mostly because of the CGI and tech. Vin Diesel's acting limitations were on display as he's kinda locked into his F&F character just with different names. Movie theatre had a 1/2 full capacity limit which made for choice seating. Kinda reminded me a lil bit of "Ghost in the machine" because of the CGI and Tech.
Black Widow delayed from it's May 1st release date...........so this is not going away any time soon. Many movie theaters are closed for the foreseeable future. If you are home and quarantined like many of us, what films or shows do you recommend to watch?
Movies I'll make my kids (8 and 6) watch if they drive me too crazy Rewatch MCU LOTR Extended Edition Star Wars (original trilogy only) Indiana Jones (trilogy only) Old films on Disney+ like Bedknobs and Broomsticks
This is the dawn of the Streaming Age. You're gonna have to bite the bullet and get one of the various services.. I have both Amazon Prime and Netflix.
The Shawshank Redemption. I watched it for the first time last night. Amazing. Get busy living or get busy dying.
I know. I just never got around to seeing it. Maybe I saw it at the right time though, as it's message of hope was nice to see in these times!
You seem like a Dude who enjoys good films. It's one of my personal favorites and is almost universally liked. I thought maybe you were being facetious. Glad you finally saw it. And yeah, the timing may have been perfect.
I watched "The Platform" on Netflix last night. Bizarre, weird, gross, and somehow, it kept me somewhat entertained.
Flicking the channels aimlessly, I came across the re-make of 'The Mummy' with Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe. I had heard it was terrible, but Holy Hell, what a pile of shit. It's hilariously bad, but not nearly bad enough to be good. Just now on commercial break was an announcement: viewer discretion advised. What they left out is that viewer discretion is advised because it SUCKS so much! Don't do it! This is a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!
Yeah, that was bad. I actually saw it in theaters for free, but they say time is money, so I lost big time that day!
Amazing how all these movies suddenly are available for streaming. Confirms that when these movies are released to theaters, there's hundreds of storage servers and warehouses of DVD's full of these movies waiting to be released. You're looking at the dawn of the Streaming Age and unfortunately, the inevitable death of the public movie theater. Learn how to pop corn in your home, get broadband and buy a big assed 4K TV.
