What I’ve taken from all of this is that the FO saw Robby as a role player. He stretched the field in some situations but never stepped up to be a 3 down player that you could rely on. Looking at this cost savings, I am hoping we bring in one of the older tackles via trade or on the market currently as we have the money. Maybe getting Vinny Curry too would completely address all of the outstanding holes we have. Not saying we look like a great team now but if we can fill those two positions we shouldn’t have any great weaknesses on this team.
You know what this signing signifies to me more than anything. Not that Perriman is better, or equal or a good replacement for Anderson. It tells me That we finally have a GM that knows how the fuck to manage the cap and select capable free agents at the same time for a change. This is great value for a great player. Sam Darnold will not loose a step. We still have the draft to go and he ain’t finished. The freaking media should have waited 15 more minutes before writing the customary “sky is falling over Darnold” piece. I think we are not finished yet guys. IMO my man Joe D has one or two more moves up his sleeve. I’m really liking this guy.
We should be getting a decent one from Robby in 2021. This isn't the correct way to think about it, but I'm choosing to think about this entire situation as Robby for Perriman, a 2021 fourth round pick and $4 mil in cap space.
Love the signing. He's the perfect guy to replace Robby, and I would argue has more upside. The injuries and terrible hands plagued him early on, but it looked like he started to figure things out in Cleveland a couple years ago. Then, he exploded late last year, so he's been flashing signs of living up to his potential for almost a couple years now. For our sake, I hope he continues to ascend. The talent is there.
Perriman looked like he finally put it together last year. Arians can do that to guys though. However, a one year deal is well worth the upside he has. If he clicks resign him and let him become part of the core. Still need to draft at least 1 WR but really like this guy more than Robby.
Wait for the results on the field. We've seen this movie before and this time, I'm hoping for a better ending. You can be hopeful without being silly.
Great signing. Anderson had speed but I didn't like his attitude. I have to give JD credit so far. If he can snag a stud receiver in the draft, shore up the offensive line a little more and get us a pass rusher we will really have a team worth watching this year.
Not trying to be argumentative, but you don’t get comp picks just cause players leave via free agency.
