You said panned out not became a stud. He’s one of the best slot corners in the league. But the list isn’t pretty so I get your point.
Disrespecting the SEC.....AND the Gators specifically.....you gonna make @DefenseWinsChampionships head explode
You said the jury is still out, that implies that he isn't cutting the mustard in my mind? I thought he was excellent in his rookie season and at times outshone Adams, 2nd season was injury-riddled which was unfortunate but again last season he was more than solid as the deep safety. No jury required for me. Our second round curse is over with this pick
The jury is out because he's only been in the league 3 seasons and one of those 3 was cut drastically short with injuries, which would prove the point. The point of my argument is that all their guys end up complete busts or injured. If Maye gets to season 5 and tears his ACL, he just proved the point. Because he's had one really good year, that does not make him the exception to the rule.
I think all jets fans want to see Herndon and Griffin on the field at the same time. That could be a positional strength if they remain healthy.
I think you need some colour in your life tbh, I can think of more things to be doing than looking at Maye like he may still be a bust in the future. What is your take on Patrick Mahomes and his 3 season career so far, he only played 1 game in one of those and spent time injured in another, the man is a bust waiting to happen I guess?
Mahomes went to Texas Tech. Not sure why he's even in this discussion. He didn't go to Florida. I don't think Mahomes will be a bust. I think he will be a hall of famer. Again, he didn't go to Florida
You're a Jets fan. We are all Jets fans. Maye had one year of good play lol I love him just as much as the next guy, but yes he can easily become a bust in a year or two. He's not a top 10 safety by any stretch, and he has already been impacted by injury.
Well, he is in this conversation as a three-season starter and the duty being out on him part, come on man it wasn't that hard, I even said it. I know you are rattling on about some Florida college system but you know, you are looking so far into the black on Maye it is unbelievable, 2/3 good seasons one injured, I am sure one of those injuries was a broken hand, not sure that is because he was from Florida though or are they that bad they get brittle bone disease as well lol
You are only seeing Maye through a shade of green. Outside of Jets fans, Maye is nothing special. And yes, he had one good year in my eyes. But if you learn anything from history, a guy that comes from Florida will bust out or constantly battle injury. Don't believe me, believe the data. It has happened time and time again. Hell, one of them was a convicted murderer who committed suicide
Again, read the data. You keep arguing a point that is proven time and time again in data. The list is long of guys from Florida who showed great promise and either faced constant injury, legal issues, or busted out of the league is long
LOL yup! It's the offseason and we can all remember Polite. He was another guy who showed promise and was a waste of time from Florida
Okay, you win Marcus Maye has zero chance of being an NFL pro because he came out of a Florida college. Please let me know when he is not to be considered a bust, 5, 6 or 10 years as a Jet, I kind of feel sorry for him he had no chance really, a Jets second-rounder and a Florida collegiate, destined to bust. RIP Marcus Maye.
Well in all fairness that is all I care about, I haven't got hours spare to watch all the other teams and highlights can be deceptive, Maye has looked good enough so far for us, we could easily flip your sentence and say you are looking through doom-laden specs due to your belief he is a guaranteed bust due to the Florida connection. I don't wish to break it to you this harshly but the Jets are nothing fucking special, this is why we are all suffering from a permanent place in hells front row seat, Joe Namath sold our souls for a one-year glory trip.
You're taking the facts I am stating and putting words in my mouth. As with anything in this world, you look to history to foresee the potential outcome of any given situation. If history holds true, Maye will deal with injury his entire career or last season will be an anomaly as he continues his career. I hope to all hell, he breaks the Florida curse, but as of now I am letting it play out before a crown him as an exception. I think Maye has the potential to be a very good safety in this league but again, the Florida factor is always present
I agree with you regarding upgrading our TE corps. As you said, Griffin probably won't be with the team after 2022. I don't see the Jets using their #1 next year on a TE, however. For that to happen, there would have to be no edge rusher, OL, CB or maybe even RB left that was worthy of the pick. I fully expect the Jets to come out of the upcoming draft with two OL, two WRs, and a CB out of the first 4 rounds. For the Jets to even consider taking a TE in the first round of the 2021 draft, I think they'd have to have taken an OT at #11 in this draft, added two very good WRs, and somehow traded for Ngakoue, or have found a gem edge rusher in the late rounds or UDFA, and there be a TJ Hockenson or Noah Fant-level prospect there at the Jets' pick. I don't think the Jets will trade for Ngakoue, and even if they were to sign Clowney, he wouldn't fill the need for an elite edge rusher. Thus, I think they will look to add a stud edge rusher with their first round pick in 2021. If they wind up taking a WR at #11 in the upcoming draft, then it will depend upon how well Fant handles the LT position (assuming the Jets don't bring back Beacham or sign Peters), and how well Edoga (or whomever) handles the RT position whether they'll be looking to add an OT with their first round pick next year. If they miss out on the top tackles in the upcoming draft, I think Douglas will definitely look to add one next year. I think OT, Edge Rusher and WR will be Douglas' top priorities in each draft until those positions are well filled. Even though Douglas is not the type to reach for need, or just draft for need, those positions are so bad on the Jets, that I think he will be forced to modify his BPA approach until he is satisfied with the level of player he has at each of those positions. Then and only then, will he begin to seriously think about other positions. Please understand that I'm not averse to taking a TE in the first round, nor am I saying that I don't want the Jets to draft an elite TE prospect. I would love it for the Jets to be able to have an elite TE to help Sam. I just think that we have to be able to protect his blind side, get an elite WR, and get an elite edge rusher before we think about adding an elite TE.
