If we trade Jamal Adams that will be my last day as a fan of this team. That will be to much for me...
What if it’s honestly was to make the offense that much better and the package was amazing? Ok he’s a great player and leader but we all know that the offensive side of the ball and getting Sam weapons is prob more important to future and maintained success
We dont need to trade Adams to make the offense better...We need competent front office members and coaches. And the offense isnt more important then the defense....how bout gettin Sam weapons in free agency instead of just signing mid level offensive line men?
let me know what offensive weapons are out there and at a good price? Yeah none at all because we should of been drafting them from years ago. So when your strong on one side or position you can let go a few pieces to get better overall. Once again the Defense side of the call don’t win chips without an adequate O. We saw that with Rex back in the days. Not saying I want to trade him, but if someone throws the sink at us for him you can’t pass it up.
Yes. You can pass it up. You draft 1st rounders to hopefully develop into impactful players one day. Well, Jamal Adams after only 3 years is already a 2x Pro Bowler and just this past year became a 1st-team All-Pro, the face of our defense and at this rate/pace a generational defensive franchise player and potential first ballot Hall Of Famer. You do not TRADE HIM AWAY. You could offer me two 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder for #33 and I'm still saying no. The draft is a gamble and a crapshoot but Jamal Adams is a guarantee. Because chances are we'd then draft two mediocre offensive players who never make the Pro Bowl (let alone the All-Pro) before flaming out (never getting close to the level of a Jamal Adams) and our 2nd round pick would likely bust just as most of our 2nd rounders bust. All while Jamal Adams goes into Canton with another team. No thnx. You do not trade kids away once they become as elite of a player that Jamal Adams currently is. You simply build a football team around him and Sam. The Baltimore Ravens would have been incompetent had they EVER traded away either Ray Lewis or Ed Reed during their prime years in order to "improve their offenses". That just sounds freaking stupid.
I’m not pushing for a trade or anything it’s just hypothetical obviously. But your comparing two different games and times. Back then you could ride a great D w mediocre QB play into the SB and win a chip or two w a Trent Dilfer. That’s not the game nowadays and that most likely won’t happen much anymore. Because Qb play and offense has taken over because of the rules of the game have dramatically changed. Sorry if someone is giving me 2 first rounders and a second, for more chances to build a great O I’m taking that. The position of a safety isn’t half as important as Oline WRs and Qb obviously and we finally have a good one. It’s the drafting of constant Defensive players that have us in the position we are now, with a league that is Qb driven. Also on D pass rush is the position of importance bc if you can get to that QB less pressure and work being done by the secondary. That’s just the truth.
The key to an Adams trade if it happens is the perception that the Jets did very well in the exchange. They're not going to trade Jamal Adams unless the back pages are likely to call it a win. They have control of the contract for 2 more seasons and are under no real pressure to tear up the rookie deal right now. If Adams was to hold out going into the 4th year of his deal, which he is very unlikely to do, the Jets could make him a discounted offer to re-do the deal early and put the ball firmly in his court. Then he'd be the one under pressure with up to 3 more years under contract (last year of deal, 5th year option, franchise tag 1) to compare the Jets offer too. One of the things that the Jets have not taken advantage of over the years is the fact that nobody gets to free agency without playing until the end of their contract. That's a hard fact that usually gives the team some pull in the conversation. Too often the Jets see themselves as having no choice but to redo a deal. Part of that is the Jets continual retooling of contracts for cap purposes from 2001 to 2012 or so. The Jets always treated the cap like a soft limit when in fact it really was a hard limit over time. Renegotiating with your vets over and over again does give you some relief and maneuverability in the current year but at a cost down the road and one of those costs is the perception by the stars in your player base that contracts are very malleable and subject to renegotiation.
That someone is smoking weed does not mean you should take part. ================================ On a serious note: they can have Jamal if they really want. Nothing short of "the Great Train Robbery" would suffice however. 1/1/1, 2/2, 3, 6 There. I have set the minimum. Take it or leave it. Extra 1 or 2 to sweeten the deal is always welcome. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herschel_Walker_trade
I have an interesting trade with the cowboys.... it would be a blockbuster and clearly depend on the value Adams gave the jets behind closed doors and if he is not in our future plans. trade Adams and our second round pick for LT Tyron Smith and their first round pick Do you think the cowboys like we are doing to bears writers would laugh at this or do you think this is fair? personally I want to sign Adams long term but we do have time.... I think helping Sam is important too.
