Keyshawn Johnson. January, 10th, 1999. Jacksonville Jaguars. Divisional Round.

    9 receptions.
    121 receiving yards.
    1 TD reception.
    2 rushing attempts.
    28 yards rushing.
    1 rushing TD.
    Recovered a key fumble.
    1 defensive INT.

    Nuts.

One of the best Jet player postseason performances of All-Time that I've personally seen.

LOL. Sorry for bringing up the 81 WC loss. My first great Jets memory was also the 1981 season and the comeback win over the Dolphins 16-15.

Jets memories? So many. Positive Jets memories? Much less. :D

The usual 1998, 2002, 2009, and 2010 playoff runs come to mind, of course!

-Chad's debut against the Chiefs. It was a loss, but I will never forget how pumped up it made me.
-Chrebet's touchdown thrown by Curtis Martin to beat Keyshawn and the Bucs.
-Chrebet's touchdown against the Packers in 02, basically sealing the AFC East.
-Kris Jenkins against the Texans in 09. Pure domination. So fun to watch.
-Fitzpatrick against the Giants and Patriots in 15. Probably the last time any wins felt amazing to me. It truly hasn't been the same 16-19, even with Sam.

-My first Jets game was 1993 at RFK. It was boring and freezing, but the Jets won 3-0. I loved it. My family are all Redskins and Steelers fans. But I loved the Jets since I was a baby. Still don't know why. :)
-My first Jets home game was 1996 against the Dolphins. Part of the 1-15 season, but that game was great. The Jets played tough but lost the final game of the year 31-28 to Marino.
-My favorite Jets game was the 41-0 win over Peyton and the Colts in 02. The team and the crowd were on fire from beginning to end. Never felt that before or after that game.

Nice post. That 3-0 win against the Skins was otherwise known as the “ doink “ game......the snap hitting holder Louis Aguilar’s helmet on a FG attempt. It was also the Jets first ever victory against the Skins.

If your family are fans of other teams and you have no idea why you’re a Jets fan may I ask if you like the color green? That’s honestly the reason I think I’m a Jets fan. It happened out of nowhere as a 10 year old in August 1981 while watching a commercial advertising a Jets exhibition game coming on later in the week. Just seeing those green uniforms in action I had a new favorite team......I was just a baseball kid up until then.

I even remember who that exhibition game was against ...they were playing in Denver against the Broncos 9:30 pm kickoff and it was the old channel 5 in NY - way before FOX took over. The Jets wound up winning that game 33-7 LOL.

Yep. My Mom said as a baby she would be looking in her JC Penney catalog and it had all the NFL helmets and I would always point my finger to the Jets helmet. Then she would take my finger and move it to the Redskins helmet. Then I would laugh and put my finger back on the Jets helmet. Green is my favorite color for sure. Too bad I didn't notice the Eagles helmet first! :D;)

Ah there are ONLY 3 games that are worth while mentioning

! the Oak PO game at Shea Stadium that propelled the NYJs to SB 3

    2 SB 3 in Miami 01/12/69

3 the 1st ever FB game between the NYJs & NYGs resulting in the NYG coach being fired after the game in Aug 1969

After those 3 games it has been garbage time for the NYJs sorry to say

I became a fan in '93, though I didn't become a huge fan until the' 98 season. I grew up in Cincinnati, step dad was a huge Bungals fan. Then Boomer went to NYC so I rooted for JETS to spite him. By the '98 season week 3 game I had moved to Indiana. That game and the rest of the season changed it all. I was 15 playing football in high school. Jets were on every chance I could.

1973 Week 14 game vs Bills where OJ Simpson rushed for 200 yards to become the first and only 2,000 yard rusher in a 14 game season. Game was not shown on TV in NYC due to it not being sold out and Bills QB Joe Ferguson only threw 5 passes for entire game.

1982 Playoff game vs Raiders where Lyle Alzado ripped off Chris Ward's helmet and threw it at him. This is why the Lyle Alzado rule was passed prohibiting players from taking off their helmets on the field. One of the best playoff games the Jets ever played.

1982 Mud Bowl playoff loss vs Dolphins. QB Richard Todd threw 5 INTs with his new favorite receiver on the day being Fins LB AJ Duhe (3 INTs).

1986 Week 3 game vs Dolphins where Jets won in OT 51-45 on an O'Brien to Walker bomb. Jets started season 10-1 and then went on to lose their last 5 games, becoming the first team to make playoffs after losing their final 5 games of the season.

1988 Week 16 game vs Giants where an O'Brien to Toon pass with 37 seconds remaining in 4th Quarter knocked the Giants out of playoff contention.

1987 2OT Playoff Game loss to Browns (Gastineau/Howard roughing the passer after 2nd and 24 INC pass deep in CLE territory).

1994 vs Dolphins Marino fake spike game, once again cementing the Jets franchise as a great pretender, instead of a great contender.

2005 Playoff Game vs Steelers where Jets K Doug Brien missed field-goal attempts of 47 and 43 yards in the last 2:02 of regulation. The second miss, with seconds remaining in regulation would have won the game for the Jets. On the play before, Jets coaching genius Herm Edwards instructed QB Chad Pennington to take a knee and make the FG attempt longer, when he could have given the ball
to RB Curtis Martin to shorten the attempt. This was at Heinz Field, a very difficult stadium for Kickers. As with many things during his coaching career, obviously Herm was obvlivious to this.

Regardless, all of the above seasons ended in failure and misery, since these are the batteries not included Jets. In other words, there are teams who could not do worse even if they tried.

It was an amazing game by Keyshawn. That one always stands out for me. Good memory for sure. Thanks, DWC.

My favorite after SB III and the Jacksonville playoff victory. I liked the two Sanchez playoff wins. First the Indy on the road game. Sanchez made some great throws to Braylon Edwards. The New England playoff game in New England. Sanchez TD throw to Holmes and of course, Bart Scott can't wait .

I can't believe i went to YouTube and could not find highlights of just Keyshawn's performance. All i seen were full game highlights. If that playoff performance would have happened while YouTube was around back in 1998-1999? His game film would have been posted not even two hours after the game.

I remember going back to school and couldn't stop talking about his game to my friends. Color blind but on that year, Broadway Vinny, Curtis my Favorite Martin as dual threat RB, Mr. Clutch 3rd Down Wayne Chrebet out of the slot, Keyshawn throw me the damn ball Johnson on the outside behind and nasty offensive line being anchored by Mawae with Jumbo and Fabini by far my favorite Jets offensive attack I've ever got to enjoy. Fitzpatrick to Marshall/Decker was a breath of fresh air but as far as enjoyment and excitement no other Jets offense compares to that 1998 one. And they had the big Tuna Bill Parcells running the show. I loved it.

I seen that locker room go from 1-15 to once Bill arrived instantly go to 9-7 and then 12-4 and one game away from the SB.

We all loved that run beating both N.E and Indy on the road (2010). Only thing that ruined possibly the greatest SB ever was Pittsburgh Steelers. Makes me sick thinking about how flat we came out @ Pitt.

But 2009 was unreal to me. We should not have been there. The Bengals rested all their starters week 17. So they said. Then we go and beat them on the road in Cinci come Wildcard weekend the very next week while Revis shut down Chad Johnson back to back weeks. I was so excited (young 20's) but yet I remember the feeling of being so scared of SD Chargers with a prime Rivers, L.T and Gates with Vincent Jackson and Floyd on the outside. I thought 100% we were going to lose and our run would end in SD. I was wrong. So wrong. When Shonn Greene trucked that SD defender and took it to the house for a super long TD i was running around the house like a crazy man. One of my best postseason Jet win feelings I've ever felt. I just didn't picture any way we'd beat that 13-3 SD high octane and powerful Offense.

Those 2009 and 2010 teams taught me something as a Jets fan. Don't ever overestimate a power house. Any team can be beat. Overrated Palmer and his Bengals. Rivers and his 13-3 Chargers with L.T as his RB with his sidekick Gates. Manning with Marvin Harrison and Wayne inside the dome and Freeney/Mathis. Brady, Belly, Gronk and the cheating Patriots. Playoffs. All lost @ home. To the Jets who were @ the road.

I don't believe those who say the Jets won't next year in a Bradless division. I've seen it all before. I think the Bills come back to reality and flop, Dolphins suck again and it's the Jets who shock the Pats without Brady thnx to Darnold and a Defense.

1966 Joe's 2nd year. Game 2 against the Oilers. Namath goes 12 for 31 not great. 283 yards and 5 TD's. Maynard went nuts. The AFL was on the map. 3 yards and a cloud of dust was over.
